Even I could not get it. Does this Singh suffer from a complex of some kind. Men and women are different. There is no need for anyone to try and make an attempt to be like the other. Be proud you are a woman who made it to the top in this male dominated society.

@neil this is my take on Ms Singh's insistence on Sir. Ms Singh is the other extreme of Bhabo. Bhabo if you look was too rigid on the standards of a good beendini. According to her a good beendini needs to be extremely good in cooking I mean she was telling she should make food for 50 people at a go, do all the household work like sewing, needs to be a mother immedaitely after marriage, should dedicate her life for her in laws and should not think of anything for herself, should not be educated much. Sandhya was a contradiction to this thought of Bhabo. Sandhya if you look in the sense of Bhabo's definition of beendini is an average one. But irrespective of that she turns out to be a good beendini. I mean there are qualities beyond the stereotypical image of a woman that makes someone good or bad woman which Bhabo is still in the process of learning. Again lot of her thought process has been proved wrong by Sandhya's characterization.
Similarly Singh is a lady who believes to be in a man's profession you have to behave like a man. No feminine feelings are accepted. These kind of thought process exist in corporate world also. As you go up the ladder you have to man up. So many woman who are ambitious are forced to take up mannerisms that are not their true nature to be in board rooms.Just like home is supposed to be a feminine place and a man is not expected to show feminine expressions an office is still expected to be a masculine place and masculine qualities are more appreciated especially in professions like IPS. This is also wrong. A woman brings her own perspective to the office and she need not man up to show her efficiency.
I hope just like some of Bhabo's notions of ideal beendini was corrected through Sandhya, the CVs will correct some of Ms Singh's notions about IPS officers also through Sandhya.

@shrutiravi

that makes lot of sense .

i havent watched past episode so thanks for the information on that bit

so in this IPS track we have IS instead of bhabho...and it would be really nice if sandhya could bring much needed change in IS's perception. Costume, haircut or mannerisms should not be the priority to show how strong you are...yes u do need some kind of discipline but to change your own identiy is not necessary to become a good IPS officer...

Ok I might sound stupid making this topic but today while watching the episode I did not understand why Inspector Singh (IS) had to stress to call her Sir and not Madam. I know that she preaches equality but does calling her Sir will accompolish that? or for that matter just having short haircut will endorse equality..is it so necessary to address someone as Sir to show that all are equal ???
any thoughts?
[They din't bring this up just for the serial...commonly Senior Female officers in the military and police are reffered to as 'sir'... but yaa...I always used to wonder...why..?

I think women should be respected as they are.

I do agree with you comments, this problem exist in the corporate world just as badly as we saw, women are forced to look, act and talk like men and be more of masculine to rise on the corporate ladder.

If however as you mentioned that this is a social issue that CVs are taking on like the issue of Bhabo and educated beendanis, then its ok, for them to take Sandhya and use her to enforce the individuality over equality in police force that would be good. It is a known fact that men are far superior in physical strength but women's intuition is far better than men, they are both good in their own ways. Instead of this nonsense, they needed to show how women as women and men as men learn to work together in their police career.

Calling ladies sir and cut hair like men is quite offensive, and yes you are all right saying that this is smaller issue about uniform if they actually address the overall issue at large, which is yet to see.

However, I think this IPS track is going to go on for months with useless drama then it would be bad, but if they use it to celebrate females individuality and focus on their strengths and change some of this mindless thinking in the academy it would be good.

Lets all see...

Exactly my thoughts.Basically in my days of viewing this show.I have figured out that it's actually an OTT drama and thus ANOTHER HITLER instead of Bhabho. So beendani crying buckets still emerging as WINNER is the CRUX of the show😆

I feel like she is demanding to be addressed as SIR because later on CV's will show the BIGGEST TWIST on DABH 🤣 She is SIR and does not like to be called Madam... imagine the twist 🤣

Sandy will investigate as to why she prefers to be called SIR 😆 😆

ok as per my knowledgethe general term for drill instructor is sir/sahab and it is not gender based..😳...just like all cadets are reffered as commando or jawan...the officers after completing their training are addressed as sir/maam 😊

I don't get it either! To be honest if I was Officer Singh I wouldn't want to be addressed as "Sir" don't wanna feel like a man. Just saying though. "Madam" is not less superior than "Sir" and I am sure all the cadets respect her highly because they understand why they are here in this profession!
