Wonderful discussion Opti, Lashy, Breezy... Loved your views.
I agree, bhabho needs to stop playing double standards game...she does everything according to her own convenience and will and wish. She has forgotten that once she was a bahu too.
My question to her " what will you do when you come to know the lie your own daughter has told you about passing her exam in the college? Will you throw her out too as you yourself has said that in this family we can give life but we cannot give sorry..."
Arey, be proud that your DIL is one heck of a smart girl who is so educated but still has married with your son. She has raised your reputation whereas your own daughter is all set to put it down...

Lashy, Breezy, I want this mindlessly angry woman to think more rationally when she cools down. Why would such an intelligent girl agree to marry a halwai willingly? Yes, her brother had something to gain from this marriage since he was able to dump his sister in their house before he left for the States to chase his own dreams but what has Sandhya gained after marrying into a rigidly traditional family like the Rathis?

Ever since she has come Sandhya has been trying to adjust and was bending backwards to put up with all the demands made of her. She has never once shown her arrogance and refused to do all the chores in the house. She even wordlessly fulfilled the punishment Bhabo meted out on her for daring to cast her vote. If at all she really wanted to imprison Bhabho would that not have been the best opportunity to do so? Could she not have complained to the police that she was ill-treated and punished because she did the duty of any responsible citizen? Why would she keep quiet then but instead go and complain on behalf of an ungrateful sister-in-law who had lied to all of them and made her husband and her slog for garnering the money to pay them for goods that they did not really lose in the fire? Would she not be rightfully angry with the double game playing Meenakshi rather than side with her and imprison Bhabho?

If the brainless Bhabho cannot think in these lines I want Suraj to explain things to her much as how he explained things to Sandhya to make her understand about his mother in the voter incident. Why should Sandhya be the only one who should understand Bhabo's point of view? Bhabho should also be made to understand Sandhya's situation. If anything the woman should provide support to a helpless girl who has lost her parents and been duped by her brother. I hope Bhabho is made to realise her mistake soon and not at the end of 6 months.

beautifully said opti.. i kept telling myself the same thing.. why doesn't someone bring that up - the rathis blamed the rathods that sandhya's family cheated them and got her married to him..
well she is more educated... they also seemed richer (remember meena/vikram's comments during their marriage and also all the dowry-like stuff she got seemed v v v expensive)...she is more beautiful than anyone else in that house...she is healthier and stronger than anyone else there😆 (this seems to be an important requirement keeping in mind bhabho's regular demands)...her parents were of better stature in society and overall she was much better placed before marriage than now...😕 then why doesnt this strike anyone...

why would sandhya lie and shortchange herself to such an extent unless there were buried treasure in that household or something 🤪- silly people ... i wish atleast meena browsed upon these disparities as she so commonly does...

Yes, Sandy's brother had a clear reason for getting her married into this family but what has Sandy gained? I can understand Bhabho being upset that the truth was kept back for so long but accusing her of complaining to the police was a little too much. There was absolutely no reason to that. And the worst part was that she only has Meena's word that the complaint was written in English. Does she not know that Meena's sister is college going? Could she not been the one who complained? In fact only Meena's family could do such a thing because she was the one who was chased out of the house. If anything Sandy's position was further elevated because her MIL was proud of her strong character and her staunch defense of her. So why would she suddenly turn against her? I cant understand how a person can be as stupid as Bhabho. She seems like a lamb who can be easily led to the slaughter house, trusting a liar like Meena and that too after knowing her character.
