Hilary Duff Plays with Barbie
Hilary Duff is getting cut down to size. Twelve inches, to be exact.
The A Cinderella Story star is taking on her most classic role yet, that of Mattel's iconic fashion doll Barbie.
The Red Carpet Glam Hilary Duff Doll, decked out in a polka dot dress with a red satin sash, is headed for stores—and Lizzie Maguire fans' Christmas stockings—this month. Other tiny outfits designed by Duff herself will also be available soon.
"Not only are [Barbie and Duff] two of the most stylish entertainers, actors and fashion designers, but they also show girls there are no limits to what they can do," Jamie Wood, Mattel's VP of Barbie marketing, said in a statement.
Duff follows in the esteemed footsteps of Marilyn Monroe (a special collector's edition series), Lucille Ball (there are several dolls representing some of her best I Love Lucy moments), Beyonc Knowles (looking chic in a pink satin gown), LeAnn Rimes (ready to perform in hip-huggers and a trendy top) and Martina McBride (in a white satin number inspired by what she wore to the 39th Academy of Country Music Awards).
While this will be Duff's first time on store shelves, the "So Yesterday" singer has already been on the market for awhile. She and boyfriend Joel Madden called it quits late last month, with the Good Charlotte frontman telling a packed Chicago nightspot that they had problems caused by the eight-year age difference between them (Madden is 27, Duff is 19).
On Tuesday the former couple dropped a restraining order against a Los Angeles paparazzo whom they had accused of helping a Russian teenager stalk Duff.
According to court documents, David Joseph Klein apologized and promised to not seek any further contact with either Duff or Madden. The photog told the Los Angeles Times in November that he had been trying to warn the couple and had tried to help Duff's alleged stalker get treatment for mental illness.
Maksim Myaskovskiy, 18, remains behind bars after allegedly threatening to kill Duff last month. He has pleaded not guilt to a felony stalking charge.
