So yeah, I started watching this show as it was said to be an adaptation of Anuja Chauhan's book, Those Pricey Thakur Girls, which was a very engaging read.
At first, I was - yes, frankly- a little disappointed with certain things that weren't like the book at all. But then I read a review of Those Pricey Thakur Girls, comparing it to Jane Austen's classic, Pride and Prejudice, and suddenly, everything began to make sense.

Everything from Aseem to Mamtaji to Dylan being a hot-shot newsanchor, and here's my take on it!!

The similarities from Those Pricey Thakur Girls which the makers retained :

The names.
The five sisters theme.
The journalism backdrop ( a certain bit of it anyway.)
Dabbu's animal love and love for losers.
Dylan Singh Shekhawat's chivalry with respect to women. Also that he's had several girlfriends.
Debjani had agreed to see a boy which Binny had selected for her, but she turned him down later. (It wasn't Binny's dewar, though.)

And now, the similarities with Pride and Prejudice.

Mamtaji- If you know Mrs Bennet, you know Mamta ji. Imagine Mrs Bennet in an Indian role. You'll see it.

Aseem = Wickham! From the beginning, the way Aseem and Dylan meet coldly, the way Aseem says he doesnt want to talk about Dylan BUT maligns his character anyway- is it not completely Wickham?
Remember, Elizabeth also believed Wickham completely, the way Debjani believes Aseem now!

Debjani and Dylan initial fights : He's often arrogant, if not downright mean, she's accusing him of things without proof ( like the gents bathroom scene. And now, obviously. ) Elizabeth accused Darcy of ruining her sister's prospects of marriage and destroying Wickham's career. The latter accusation was wrong.

See the similarities?

Elizabeth and Wickham = Debjani and Aseem, and why? Because initially in Pride and Prejudice, Wickham paid extra attention to Elizabeth. She never liked him and only ever considered him a friend. (However, they have added this marriage track in DWTG because, well, it's an Indian soap.😆)

LN is always supporting Dabbu in everything. Mr.Bennet considered Elizabeth his favourite daughter.

So that's all I can think of right now, anyone willing to add their views?

PS. I am NOT COMPARING any of the three. I consider Pride and Prejudice one of my favourite books, and Anuja Chauhan is one of my favourite Indian writers. DWTG is not, as of now, my favourite show, though I do like it.
Books should never be judged by TV shows and vice versa, because the storyline is seldom similar anyway. So far, to me, the makers are doing a decent job. My greatest fear was that Debjani would be a weak, adarsh nari type, but so far, she hasn't shown me that, so I am hopeful that the CVs won't make her weak in the future to gain TRPs.

True. Books should be compared with books and shows with other shows. :P

Agree with U , Shreya .
Good points or might I say good sentences and well written. 👍🏼

Never has a show been completely adapted from a book . They just write adapted from such and such book.

I had really liked Mamta ji in the book. She was far more supportive than she is here. Then of course they haven't taken her character from TPTG , so there is little room for comparison.
Agree she is the Indian version of Mrs Bennet.

And Dabbu is thankfully not a damsel in distress. She has a head of her own . But I don't like her decision of marrying Aseem correct.
I mean just because one person has been somehow proved to be wrong doesn't make the very next person absolutely good. There cud be too many not so good ppl at the same time.

Yeah, she is totally Mrs Bennet. That's wht makes her wrong, doesnt it? She's wilful and wrong and subconsciously, I think she wants to hurt Dylan too.

Yeah correct Mrs. Bennet is what makes her wrong. Although she cares about Dabbu , the society and what they keep saying abt Chandi getting more proposals than Dabbu concerns Mamtaji more. That's really sad.

And about hurting Dylan , if Dabbu wants to do just that she cud simply not respond to him more than any other co-worker. She doesn't really hav to agree to a marriage that which wud hurt her worse than anything else .
What can be expected in a daily soap ?
Without a 3rd person interfering , the leads just dont get it that they have feelings for each other.

Like I said, I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying that that's probably the reason behind that. And forget daily soaps, that happens in so manyyy novels too.🤢

Jokes apart I think the makers of may be were reading those pricey...n pride ...at the same time that's why they mix everything ...
Okay now coming to the serious note Indian telly is not still developed much ...as they have to make it
Since from the beginning even though I haven't read those pricey..till now expect some pages I bet they can't make the show as the novel would be

The tale of adding twist and drama will always side away story here that's why ...
