Behind the Mask
No one can long hide behind a mask, the pretense soon lapses into true character.
The episode gets going with Dabbu gazing at the stars, in a romantic mood. She is shaken out of her reverie when Eshu and Chandi horse around only to receive a timely message of approbation Dylan for the delectable laddoos. Her furious flushing is noticed by her sisters in a jiffy, all the same she precariously avoids further speculation and her growing fondness for Dylan is pushed to the back burner, at least to the outside world.
Dimwitted Vicki in his peevish ways, feeds lies about Aseem's supposed amorous feelings to platonic and conscientious Binny. To begin with she is disgruntled by the idea , but with time she is wholly taken in and deduces to dicuss the probable relationship with the family . For a fact the viewers know that , this connivance will not last long for it is sure that the clandestine plan will be leaked.
Binny dissertates with Mamta and LN over the proposal. Whilst rustic Mamta is convinced promptly and amply ecstatic, LN who is more pragmatic in his approach towards life is intrigued and skeptic of the sudden tidings. He evinces a comprehension of the truth, albeit not entirely sure of it. Mamta in with respect to her goodness, in totemic terms elucidates that siblings are not to be judged based on the blood running in their veins. Here we are given a glimpse into her idealistic self, in contrast to LN's intuition that warns and reminds him of the responsibility marriage is.
Dabbu who is under the false impression that Aseem suggested her name for news reading , is bouncy and rehearses for her lines with zeal in the parking lot. Nevertheless she stutters and hence, kicks off her voice modulation exercises. It adds to the comic value of the scene, which is alleviated subtly to a knowing chuckle when Dylan is magnetically allured by the raucous voice that's sounds mellifluous to him. It is a hit and miss, but the beauty of the scene is surely to be cherished by all as the viewers have their hearts in their mouth . The scene's crescendo becomes the highlight of the day with the symphonic music playing in the background. Notwithstanding the biting anticipation from the scene, it has a anti- climatic ending, when DebLan resume their superfluous banter. Dylan, shrugs off the slightest possibility that Dabbu was the stranger her so strongly felt for. Also, he doesn't realise the gravity of the situation, when Dabbu royally snubs his offer to read the news, committing a flagrant error of judgement.
Mamta uses Anji as her mask to inquire of Dabbu and her conception of the proposal, who is too wary of the obscure intentions.
Dabbu displays her exemplary dexterity at reading news. She fails to look beyond the visor , as she acknowledges the presence of the rubicund of visage but not the tall drink of water. She is put off by his absence and cackles about her cantankerous boss to Santosh. It is him who rips off the affectation Dylan wears and declares that it was him who found her talented and sent her to cover the riots. She lapses into his ignis fatuus and is tickled pink when she thinks of her becoming a better reporter. Dylan praises Dabbu bountifully and shows the lack of any inhibition in him to accept her.
Back home, the girls beat around the bush with anecdotes to Aseem , but Dabbu who is in la-la land, misconstrues it for Dylan. She is appalled when they reveal the proposal to her and doesn't seem exuberant.
The episode makes no bones for any option but DebLan, and isefficacious in divulging into the different complexities and shades one hides beneath thick sheets of lies. We are confident that the hiccups that have cropped up will subside and happiness is to be resumed , as it is love and family that are the strongest weapons to decimate evil.
