if he had nana's wrist between his fingers then its ok- you can tell by just checking the pulse normally without the stethescope. If not then its a blooper!

actually when the range starts a flactuation can b seen in sphgnometer(bp machine) and wen it stops another flactuation can b seen

so sometimes doctor don't use stethoscope while using bp machine
