This is my first attempt at writing an OS. Do read and leave your comments whether negative or positive.
It had been 3 years that Riddhima had confessed her love to Armaan in the basketball court. It had been excruciating for him. That night he could hardly sleep, his mind reeling with images of Riddhima-the first time they met, their innumerable fights, her slaps, his ways to get revenge, the night in Panchghani, her accusations, their marriage, her attempt to suicide, his indifference, their honeymoon, Armaan's return, his insecurities, her reassurances, their second marriage, and their second honeymoon..Even as he thought about it, hot tears trickled down his eyes. He felt hopeless; he felt that an obscuring darkness loomed over his future. It was too difficult to consider a life without Riddhima when he had been imaging pictures of their happy prospect from the time he had said to her main tumhe pasand karne laga hoon, Riddhima.' But he had to move on. The next day he had packed his bags and returned to his home-Houston.
His life was more difficult than that of most of the educated youth, but then, he had to cope up to the current scenarios of his life to survive. He wished things had not turned out the way they had, then again, he pondered, when had his life been the way he had wanted it to be? He had been too dependent on others and they had the reigns of his life in their hands. But now, there he was -decisive and certain to attain his goals, ambitious to win over the whole world, and find the true Sid who was somewhere lost in the hustle of the emotionally draining path that he had led which was way too much influenced by his close ones-his family, his friends, and Riddhima.
His parents had been unaccommodating, his life was shattered but he held on to his dream. He held on to the last thread of hope that would help him out of the dark phase of his life. And within the last three years he had come a long way, he had joined the U.S branch of Sanjeevani, he had spent nights to catch up with all the gaps his professional life had and he had tried his best to be open up to all the marriage proposals his mom had landed up with each time he refused one.And after three years he was the D.O of the hospital. He was a sincere doctor, his colleagues appreciated his love for his profession, he was an absolute favorite of his patients- be it young or elderly and all the senior doctors praised him for his skill in handling patients.
But today, the otherwise suave doctor was nervous. He stood in the hospital terrace waiting for a fellow doctor, neha. She was a good friend of his, and gradually Sid had developed feelings for her. Last week Sid had arranged a dinner in a restaurant and kept on groping for the right words to confess. But he could say nothing and the night ended on a rather sweet note. Even today, as he thought of confessing his feelings for Neha, his mind drifted to the Fire escape of sanjeevani where he had held Riddhima and said, 'I want my wife back...' The thought triggered beautiful memories of her, and unknowingly, a smile crept on his face. Yes, he had loved Riddhima, probably she would always be in a part of his heart, but nowadays, Neha successfully dominated a larger part of it.
As she arrived, he held her hand and in a single breath, he said-I never thought that I could ever love anyone but Riddhima, but I guess main galat tha, and from the last few weeks you are the only one that occupied my mind, and so much so that I assumed that I was going insane, but I have realized that I...that well, umm, I love you...'
She looked very queerly. At first she overcame with amazement, then tears flowed from already moist eyes and then she smiled sunnily through them, and her slender arms wound around his neck. He buried his face in her soft locks and after a long battle with himself, Sid found himself.
A/N - There has been no mention about Riddhimas present life, because there is no need for it. I've just tried to elaborate the fact that Sid can move on and be happy w/o her.
I am an SR fan and will always remain so, but more than that I admire the character of Sid and this OS is wholly about him.
P.S This was written about 3 and a half years back.
