It doesn't matter where you live...its how u've been brought up that shows what kind of person you are and the values that have been instilled in you....I'm from the UK and I definitely know how to respect my elders....so bottom line its ur upbringing that matters more than the place where you come from

1. Perverted boys which u wont see in america
2. Young kids being disrespectful
3. Indian born kids trying so hard to be like americans that they made a fool out of themselves
4. Lots of disrespect the younger boys and girls had towards me(because im american) and older and younger people

I think our culture, as in american, is respectful.... Its respect that we kids help our old neighbors to mow their lawn or shovel the snow and in return ask for nothing
its respect when we give up our seat in the bus for a little kid
and its respect when we treat everyone as equals regardless of what they look like
In india, the boys are soooo very disrespectful of the girls.. The guys stare the girsl down and publicly whistle

India is afr from a perfect nation; but america is not perfect either, but u know what as americans we care and respect everyone and i do not see it happening in india one to many times

Thats all
This is my opinion based on expierence

well i respect ure openion dear...but i live in norway..and i'm a norwegen-turkey-kurdish..and i'm born here..and i see so many ppl who are so not respecting older....and i was in america with my dad..and we there like for 4 weeks, and the teengers were so bad and not respecting the older at all..
but i was in india in summer..and yes u are right, many poor ppl..but they do have great respect for older...even though i'm not a indian, neither i'm a paki....

I haven't watched the epi but if what's written is to be believed then...I think it is very disrespectful!! I mean the media has overused the stereotype of irresponsible, American born Indian who has no respect for anything and lives only for selfish purposes...
Come on just because one is born in US doesn't mean they are a spoiled brat...Kids learn from the values that are taught to them...no matter if it is in US or India...As one of the members said, India and US both are not perfect!!!

PS No offense intended...If you still find the comment offensive then just ignore it

@Topic starter: To be honest you can't really expect drama serials to be factual and correct in the things they show, because believe it or not they are always going to be sterotyping women and other things which may not be true or we may not believe in them, so I'm saying just take it lightly as it is a drama afterall and just don't dwell into it too much as it can mess with your mind making you quite angry, as I have read many posts which are fired up about this issue! 😊 Hope this helped!

In today's episode, Dr Modi was telling Sid off...and telling him that this is India and not America.
And that just becoz he's american, that doesn't mean that he can cross limits.

He also sed that only Indian people have limits and morals.....but what about Americans? Is he hinting that Americans DON'T have limits?😡 non-brought-up in India people ALSO have limits and morals!

I just think the DMG script is biased...saying that Indians have more morals and never cross limits unlike American Indians. -I think that's totally wrong...whether someone's from America, France, Australia, UK....or any other rich country......

Just becoz you're rich doesn't mean that you are a bad person at heart!
Non-Brought-Up in India people can also be just as caring and have just as good morals as Indian-born and bred ones!

Well said! Indian movies and TV shows always give out the message that America is morally inferior to India. And that is so not true!

The American culture does teach people to respect and show consideration for the elderly. Their ethics teach you to look beyond age, race, class, etc when you deal with people. You could be born to a janitor and still have as much of a chance to pursue a good career as someone who's born to a rich businessman. Your class or gender won't stop you from achieving your dreams. And it sure as hell won't allow anyone to discriminate against you. I have yet to see that in India, where only the rich have the leisure of being treated well and/or having a bright academic future.

Sure, Americans drink and sleep around, but at least they are taught to mind their own business and respect everyone around them. I'd rather live and work in this "immoral" society than one where people claim to be pious and morally correct, yet discrimination runs rampant all over the place. It's about time our industry woke up to the facts and stopped portraying the West in such a negative light.

i sooo agree...i'm frm UK but tat dose not mean i'm bad

Well maybe thats because people and india and pakistan talk loudly whereas people in america are soft spoken
However way of speakign i feel indian/pakistanis are more respectful
And they speak politely to parents and dont abuse as much
