Dear members you all must have noticed the changing characteristics of mothers in telly serials. Mothers due to their obsession and over possessiveness for their sons have been responsible for creating rift in marital ties to the extent of ruining their son's life.
Indu though being a loving and caring mother due to her insecurities knowingly was on verge of endangering a life. She had almost chained Parth with her emotions dismissing Teni's dire situation courtesy Sejal. Teni needed Parth to rescue her. Well, some would say as a mother Indu was right since she didn't want to lose him once again in case Dadaji's order was breached by her son. Indu thought only for her son forgetting that her narrow thinking could have destroyed Teni's life forever.
Seeing the selfish and demanding mothers, I thought of putting down my image of a mother and her role in present times, hoping from you all to throw some light in this regard.
Woman a repository of tender emotions embraces relationships with warmth. The one such relationship is of mother and Child, a bonding signifying purity and selflessness. The child she believes is the precious gift bestowed by Lord as a reward of good karma in her past birth. Hence she develops a pride for her offspring. She is in awe with her child so much that she forgets her child is special for her only. For the world he is just a human being. Her over protective attitude combined with possessiveness grows, as time advances causing inconvenience to him when he attains youth. The same child whose world revolved around his mother feels suffocating, yearning for means to come out of her yoke. For the lady whose world defines her child, quivers in heart, noticing her son's indifference. She holds her upbringing responsible for his non chalant behaviour. Mother forgets that as she is advancing in age her son too is maturing both in body and mind, developing the discretion to differentiate between good and bad.
Parents children relationship can be outstanding if both act sensibly. Mother should derive example from how a bird liberates her new born the moment it is winged. Mother should also know that her role is to nurture educate and inculcate values. Observe his activities allow him to falter. This will teach him to be strong preparing himself to face challenges . To trust and welcome her son's decision. Be a guide and pillar of support for him. Her interference in his personal space can cause him to disrespect her. Emotionally blackmailing or pressuring on plea that he is indebted to her for she has brought him in this world, may strain the relation between two.
I feel mothers would get satisfied by watching their son climbing the mountain of success and when at top leading a warm and secured life. This should be her sole interest in her son; a pure and sacred affection devoid of malice.
If Indu could reflect, her pressure tactics so far on her son and dil, she might have rectified her errors. Allowing her son to have the confidence to share the truth with her, of Teni being their surrogate, she is the one who would give heir to the family. Hence her importance is not less than any other family members.

Beautiful and thought provoking post Sheena!! 👏
I will say not all mothers in reality are like that. There are mothers who just guide and support their sons, without interfering too much into their lives.

But unfortunately, the portrayal of mothers in TV serials isn't truly a reflection of reality.. For the sake of drama, mothers in tellyworld are projected as overprotective and possessive, they are just there to create problems for their daughter in laws. How ridiculous is that! 😔

Ofcourse there are mothers like that in real world too, who want to control their kids life for the whole life, unaware of the fact that this over protectiveness is actually creating troubles for their beloved child.

Indu is one such mother, who can't think beyond her possessiveness for her son Parth. I guess she carries some guilt feeling and insecurity right from the start.. Poyni must have dominated her since childhood, and then Poyni's would be suitor was kind of snatched away by her. Indu must have had all her hopes with Parth but then Parth also betrayed her by marrying a girl against his mother's wish, which made her to stay away from Parth for two years. As a result, she has become even more possessive about Parth and all she thinks about is her rights on him as a mother.
