Excellent post Misesha ! And thought-provoking discussions by all, over this all important issue .
Whether it is Sarvori or Teni , is it not an abuse to a woman's body and soul? Surrogacy is a curse to women rather than a boon to a man!! First of all , after being used and abused [ pulled the child from the biological mother because of the commercial angle involved here !!] both the rightful wife and the wrongly used lady both are the losers . Why giving so much importance to a tiny sperm rather than the womb of a woman , a mother ?! Where are morals and ethics gone ?
How the creatives will deal with this delicate issue in this serial , have to see , it's quite interesting .

@Viswasruti: Bravo Madhu!!! 👏

You described the surrogacy so briefly and at the same time so accurately... 👍🏼

Thanks members for thought provoking discussions.

I was never against surrogacy so much. I always thought it was a boon for childless couple to have a baby of their own, and for the other woman in need, I thought it was a blessing of some sort to change her existing tough situation.

But now after watching this show and also recent news on film celebrities using surrogacy as a frequent option, I feel bad. Its like, anyone can get a baby if they have money.

As one member said, surrogacy seems like a curse than a boon.

When anything gets associated with a commercial angle, it loses its value...women's womb will have no value or importance if this practice continues.

Becoming a mother is the nature's biggest blessing, but if that also gets traded, then what will be the value of a human?

The way PaRi are desperate for a baby just to please their family, doesn't go well with me. A petty problem is inflated way too much... and these are not the right reasons for surrogacy.

Anyways, its a show, but I just hope that real people don't start seeing surrogacy as an option of convenience.

It surely isn't this easy and straight forward in real life for common people. Celebrities may find it comparatively easier, because they have time and they have money.

I too have complaints with the way the couple has been shown opting for surrogacy in a hasty decision under family pressures, but if the writers show consequences of it in later stage, it can still do justice to the sensitive topic.

Thanks Misseha for giving a wonderful thread on which the discussion was not constricted within the ambit of the show. Surrogacy is a bane especially in our society and nation. On the national perspective, ours being a developing nation, with many underprivileged children surviving below poverty line both in orphanage and those with their parents, the idea of surrogacy is like strangulating those needy and deserving in order to fulfil a desire to have a biological child. However surrogacy delivers a marginal biological child. If the result is incomplete than why can't we humans rise above our personal interests and go for adoption. Why it is believed that adoption is a charitable task and not meant for humans with ordinary desires. Well, we need to change our mental orientation, since that is the biggest obstacle in raising our first foot forward towards humanity.
People would dismiss such thoughts since they are holistic in nature. But in present times there are many who are setting high standards of humanity.

Snowflakes, I beg to differ slightly with you on surrogacy vs adoption.
Adoption is equally sensitive and if people can't mentally accept someone's else child as their own or fail to love the adopted child as they would have loved their biological child then also its a problem.

So I guess adoption is good for those who can handle it.

Esha , thanks a lot for providing this platform to discuss on the current issue . Infertility issues and showbiz people's flashy choice of showcasing their youthfulness have given rise to other birthing options to have children ie. surrogacy .

Adoption belongs to a sociological adjustment and Surrogacy belongs to emotional upheaval . Adoption is an adjustment with a good human heart - mind , Surrogacy belongs to an abuse to both emotional and physiological to that involved mother . As you rightly mentioned ,either one has to adjust with the baby which most probably belongs to either hub or wife , but undoubtedly it's an unlawful deed to the biological mother , because the baby ethically and morally belongs fully to the Surrogate mother , this legal contract will deprive her from having the small motherly pleasures . keeping her away from her own creation which leads to emotional breakdown . Money plays an important role here . But just tell me , is it ok if anyone on earth can buy a mother's love , a god's blessing , and a good Doctor's service ? We can't ! That's my opinion ! Here the money lost it's value and gratitude plays an important role ! Yes agree , we'll love to gift to our mothers , do donations to God and pay the bills to the doctor , but I feel it's a minimum courtesy, because we are humans , not animals !

Adoption is a sociological solution to both the childless couple and the deprived kid . Surrogacy is a sociological problem because a woman / mother's body is used for commercial/ selfish purposes .

There are different points to consider when choosing from both options. And like many other things, your perspective towards love & and life plays an important role here !

Lately I've been thinking a lot about this. I've been wondering whether surrogacy is a better option to the childless couple rather than living their life peacefully and respectfully with each other's company !

Adoption is a noble deed , and surrogacy is a commercial commitment , in which human relations play a lesser role The need of the hour is to see women as more than just as an instrument of child breeding. The infertile couples should be encouraged to choose the option of child adoption rather than surrogacy.

Misseha I respect your views. Our differences have solid basis. But the goal is same. To fulfill our dreams of having a better society with values and morality in it's foundation. This can be possible only if women and children are given better environment and avenues to prosper.
