Luckily they are looking at it through all perspectives.
Here the couple have immature views on surrogacy. They are in love and desperate for family's approval. Shorvori is way too devoted to Parth and his family to bother about the fact that the child might only belong to Parth. Won't comment on Parth's thoughts before watching the episode because that character is still a bit of mystery to me. Teni, on the other hand, only sees it as a ticket to America. These immature views will have long and deep consequences.
Honestly it's not as unreal as it looks. Some people only look at surrogacy as a way to get their biological child or biological heir of the family. That's one of the reasons why commercial surrogacy has been banned. It has become a gateway for couple to get bilogical child. They treat surrogate mother like open market whrrebthey can get their own child

Desperate for family's approval?! That's something what is not known in my country. Once a girl or boy becomes full-grown, they go their own way with or without support of their parents. It is solely the decision of the young couple whom to marry and whether they will have children or not. They do not even ask the parents about this, let alone the acceptance of the family depends on having or not having a child.
The surrogacy in the sense as presented in DSDT really looks like a miserable business. This is proven just too well with the way how Teni herself and her reasons for surrogacy are represented in the series. Anyway, I will always be on the side of the surrogate mother because I know that her reasons for such a step are much more seriously as the "ticket to America". Just the matter with the ticket to America gives the impression that the showmakers want to represent the surrogate mothers in general as the unscrupulous money-loving women and that is far removed from the reality. It looks like they want in this way to banalize this whole issue of surrogacy and that bothers me a lot because it's simply not fair to the all of those women who have done it for existential reasons and who must bear the consequences of it their whole life long.

Anyway, this is my personal opinion and nobody should thereby feel disturbed in the enjoyment of DSDT...

@Nataly: the story is still at its infancy...we need for Teni to become the surrogate mother before going through the consequences of her decisions. They are not trying to show anyone in bad or good light. From the spoilers, all the three people involved in surrogacy have made this decsion in immature manner. It might look dramatic but it is not unrealistic. The show isn't being insensitive to anyone...it is simply trying to tells us the story of three lives entangled in one issue.
Things differ from country to country. In India, elders' approval might not be the necessity for the marriage but it does play a role in it. Parth's family is an orthodox Gujarati family who is already against him getting married to an girl out of their caste. For such families, heir matters a lot. I do not support such things and neither do I think the show is trying to promote orthodox thinking. It is simply trying to tell us the reality of many rich and so-called modern household.
I have seen many people that exclaim that such things never happen in real life but I really think that just because they havn't come across it does't mean it does not exist. Until few days back I had never thought that traditional arranged marriages (where the girl and boy hasn't met until the day of marriage) used to still exist in high class society of educated indians but then my friend, herself, got married in such manner and that made me realize that such orthodox things might not be as uncommon as we think it to be. It all depends on family to family. Many families are just modern from outside but orthodox from inside. Many families might follow thousands of rituals of every function but give absolute freedom to their younger generations in their life.
Teni has been portrayed as an immature and ambitious character. It went same for Preiti Zinta's character in the movie. She never thought anything beyond the ample money she received in exchange of 9 months. It took her quiet many months to realize the effects of her decision on herself.

I dont completely agree on this topic but nor even deny this
They could have given birth to kid right after marriage if it was the case, why to wait for 2 yrs😕
Even after the revelation that shorvori is carrying, parth and shorvori were ready to go abroad...
They never wanted to hide this from family but they did just because of parth's mom.
When shorvori lost her senses behind kid...it was parth who said that he would have chosen her if he had to choose between his love and his kid..which gives a clarity that he loves her and wud stay with her though if family accepts her or not

On other note, speaking about thinking of kids...we cant just tell that they need it to stay with their family...
After a point in life, couple tend to think about having kids...
On one side where you have lost ur kid, where you are mentally weak, you tend to listen to others and probably shorvori did the same...listening to her MIL
Her MIL wanted her son to be with her and tat is why she suggested this to them...

So I neither agree completely nor deny this completely
