Both are important. Good dancers can look bad with poor choreography and even so-so dancers look good with the right choreography.

I think good dancing skills are important than choreography.
Even if the choreography is "bad", the dancer will be able to portray his dance in an elegant manner IF he has excellent dancing skills. Even a simple basic piece of choreography can be portrayed in a beautiful way if the person's dancing skills are good.
It's not the same case when the choreography's good and the dancer lacks skills. A beautiful choreography can be murdered if the person has poor dancing skills.
BTW, Summer ji, I think emotions are a part of dancing skills?? Without emotions, a chunk of dance routine can look lifeless = poor quality dance.

It seems that elimination happens not because the dancing skill is lacking but because of wrong decisions and uninteresting choreography, story lines, music etc
What do yo think is most important ? I notice sometimes the contestants are not able to showcase their talents.
They have to make an important choice to stay in the competition.
They should know what is their strong areas and capitalize on it.
PLease vote or comment.

The entire act which includes the choreography - music, setting, costumes, dance, drama, emoting are important.
While that is true a beautifully choreographed act can go wrong when dancing skills or prep isn't adequate. And then there is the 'x' factor which some gifted dancers/choreographers have, that makes them click.
Not being able to showcase talent - at times this could be sheer bad-luck if, they're teamed with a mismatched mentor/choreographer.

I think both are important, as they have a correlation to each other. With no good choreography, dancing skills will go waste, and without good dancing skills, a goodchoreography will look quite weak! Rather than the concept, choice of song and apt steps and transitions are more relevant for the choreography. It looks bad any time if one of the partners has to stand doing nothing even if only for a few seconds...

Yes quite true. Good choreography helps to make a dancer look far better too and give them an edge.
Most dancers are not strong in all areas so they have to be careful in a competition like this.

Yes X factor is basically skill, personality etc and some are simply gifted.
As competition gets tougher everything counts.

Definitely both are equally important. The choreography should be on par and its execution should be just as good.
