I think there were some fundamental mistakes made with DP
1) First two week were a disaster in my opinion minus the first episode. They did not focus on right things and there was a lot of repetitive stuff. DP did get a good start in terms of TRP in first week but later people lost interest because of that and with KBC and other shows in same slot never really bothered coming back.
2) They never developed Mohan's char properly and smoothly and even after almost 4 months it is still not revealed and now they are already in the process of transformation ... lin one epi they showed him a flirt and then there was nothing of it ... they showed him talk of party and all but never really showed it ... he was supposed to be a grey char but that part was never explored and was left to viewers imagination ... his dislike for gujju culture what became of that? ... his unhappiness with how things are in India like people throwing garbage outside of bins and that interaction with beggar what became of that? All those feelings of his just disappeared? They felt no need to build on them? To explore them and still expected audience to relate to him? ... unlike us who debate and pull our hair common viewers take things on face value so for them i am sure it must have been difficult to relate to the show with no continuity of anything. Not just that now his habits have gone completely missing from the show and he comes out as a polished, good guy despite his degree being fake, which even i can't relate to at times let alone a common viewer. Even if the show was about Kastur's journey as a wife but who did her journey revolve around? If you don't develop him how do you expect audience to relate to the show? And now its too late to explore that grey part of him. I am not going by articles but the official version of storyline given on imagine's website ... what happened to that? And Mohan was suppose to bring about reform (at whatever small or big level) have they ever shown anything that links to that? Any thought process of his? Focused on his discontent that will later lead for him to bring about that change? I think focusing on those aspect would have brought much needed thrill to the show or the X-factor but they never bothered.
3) The switch over they gave kastur's char, I think a common viewer found it unable to relate to kastur post marriage. A girl who could not shake hand with Mohan because ussey sharam a rahi thi ... was something totally different on the wedding night. I know we all enjoyed her like that ... but then they shoudl not have shown the other thing. Like i said we argue, we debate and come around things common viewers don't for them characters have to make sense and be smooth.
4) Focusing on wrong things at wrong times ... lets be honest and think when has the story really focussed on MohUr? Even when the wedding track was going on what saroj felt about her was focused ... so much so that even in promos they highlighted their future relationship more than that of MohUr ... i remember i used to say they air saroj kastur wedding promo more than mohan kastur. And saroj kastur thing is so typical that no one would want to watch the show for that!!! Not even those who love saas bahu sagas. And honestly i don't think saas bahu sagas are what sell anymore look at all top shows these days i don't think any of them focuses on saas bahu saga!!! Not even saath nibhana sathiya, it has a totally new kind of saas, which i think pulls people, even though i don't like the show but its a fact.
