I wrote my last post before even seeing this. That's exactly where I disagree. He may not want to get involved in it, and in a way he still isn't. He's not confronting Saroj. He talked it over with Kastur. He would be a jerk of the first degree if he pretended like he knew nothing.
He's always asked Kastur "kya hua" whenever he saw her crestfallen face. True, it was obvious and she wasn't trying to hide it, like she was in this instance. And he also went about his way when she said 'nothing.' But in this case he knew it wasn't nothing, he knew there was an deep issue there. How is he supposed to just ignore that and not even try to give her some encouraging words, knowing it's not her fault.
Practically, his talking about it with Kastur benefits him as well. He tells Kastur not to try too hard, and that it's not her fault. (Kastur doesn't listen to this advice, but still.) He knows that something needs to be said there, or else that situation will become a bigger mess.
