Yeah...firstly Saroj doesn't really know what actually happened to the jewellery, warna I'm sure her detective streak would have run into why Mohan needed so much money in the first place and who he was giving that to, leading to God knows what messy revelations and then that part of the story would be over đ As far as Saroj is concerned she cannot trust any of the Desais so her own mind is coloured against them, and in such a case it's kinda tough to be rational and cut the daughter of that house some slack. Her main beef would probably be 'what's the harm in giving us the wedding jewellery to
keep safe, we're not going to steal it or something'. Plus, for the first time there happens to be something Kastur seems to have done 'wrong' that Kastur alone will be responsible for, rather than have Saroj being insulted left, right and centre for it.
What I love about the dynamic between the saas/bahu right now is that even though Saroj dislikes Kastur and the two are clearly uncomfortable around each other, neither is explicitly using their feelings to their advantange. Kastur doesn't try to unnecessarily butter up to Saroj (which would have irritated her more) beyond standing up for her in front of Baapji and convincing her to try the lapsi, and Saroj doesn't use her dislike to create problems for Kastur in the house; preferring largely to distance herself from the bahu instead...at least until now. And given the presence of Baapji, not doing anything to Kastur or not venting some frustration on her must be tough, because every time Kastur makes a mistake, it's Saroj who becomes the convenient scapegoat, and even Kastur's attempt to rescue and defend her just wind up worsening the situation
In fact, I was just watching the morning-after-SR epi over here yesterday and what struck me was that in her own nariyal-type way she was being slightly sympathetic with Kastur: she tells her at one point that 'I learned these rules when I entered this house' which obviously means that she had as tough a time - if not tougher - than Kastur herself had and is therefore not judgemental of Kastur herself even if she doesn't like her. She didn't assign blame to Kastur or look down on her for not wearing her palloo; she just made it clear that if Kastur wanted to survive in this place she'd have to start learning, and fast. Because if she doesn't it's not just Kastur who will bear the brunt of it, but Saroj as well.
But an incident like this...would she probably be blamed if she hid what she believes Kastur has done with the jewellery especiallly considering that Baapji demands to be aware of EVERYTHING in the house? I'm sure she'd rather be safe than sorry.
