Mythological serials are something which i have never watched post Ramayana and Mahabharata. These 2 serials were part of my life in my childhood and not something which i really had a choice. The whole of India watched it for godsake.
After these 2, DD was not too popular and we didn't have a cable TV for me to study well. As i grew up mythology was something i really didn't care about especially in the TV. Average actors, over exaggeration, typical music and drag the hell out of each scene. At-least that's what i thought it would be.
Some years passed and recently heard something good about this serial called Devon ke Dev Mahadev. I as usual casually let go thinking it to be just among the lot. But kept hearing a lot of good things about it.
Decided to give it a try. I was blown away. I never considered myself to be too religious but i really really liked this show. I like it so much in 2 weeks i have covered close to 2 years worth of program or 160 episodes online.
Not that it was a perfect show there are some typical back ground wooshes that keep coming. Some scenes were dragged and the damn Asura's look like they have come straight from "Pimp my cleanliness show" and bad to very bad acting skills. Adequate importance not given to the so called villains. But the cumulative output far exceeds all our combined expectations.
Now for the good part of the show.
A. The character of Shiva has been portrayed and played too near perfection by Mohit Rana.
B. Sati character was played ok by the heroine, but Parvati deserves better praise. Well to be frank Parvati is much more positive than Sati for starters. Sati is to the left. Gorgeous isn't she.
C. The back ground music for Shiva, romantic scenes and when he gets angry is sublime and awesome.
D. Devdutt Patnaik is a consultant for this show, hence all aspects of Shiva, legends and each part of his attire and ppl around him are explained in a matter of fact manner. Truly eye opening.
E. The episodes don't drag and have a pace that is measured and good.
F. The characters are well built and have been made to look like the ppl they play. Not paunchy old farts this time. Especially Shiva. Appreciate it much.
And last but not the least most of the episodes were avl either on youtube ot StarTV's website. So being an Indian also was fulfilled. All shows free. yaaa. (PS: planning to buy it, can't trust these ppl when they will take it down)
Do watch and spread the message. The product is good and worth endorsing.
