Ruchi was in every woman Jallandar looked at . he just missed it in Parvaaatoooii. and his dear wife Vrinda
The reason why vrinda had to immolate herself., because the one time Jallandar did show Ruchi in her was when he was not he but it was narayan.
The reason why we worship her as Tulsi
She was pure, Jallandar did not see Ruchi in her either.

u guys dont get it.He wanted to have pickles.Ruchi is a brand of pickles in the south.So he didnt find Paro carrying pickles.Hence he said that line to Vrinda

Oh ! I now get it. Here is what happened.

During his mini-Samadhi, Jalandhar had visions of Mahadev eating at the hands of Parvati. He looked closer and saw it was something while and mushy. He assumed it was curd rice...see being an asur he can't think it to be a sweet dish..that simply won't come to his mind first.

He was hungry. He got up from the Samadhi. Got dressed and came out and kidnapped Parvati. And he searched and searched but did not find her carrying food (he still does not know she is Annapoorna herself). He got rice, yogurt but no pickle. Then it dawned on him. He has a cook..er..wife at home too. He comes running and and says...u guys know the rest.
