I too was constantly wondering why Jalandhar was being shown as some kind of a 'wronged -guy- in- seach- of- justice' .
Now it will seem as if Vishnu is going to do a gross sin, and J-V the innocent victims.
Though, in fact Vishnu does grant a recompense for Vrinda by granting her a status euqal to his. A sprig of Tulsi is equal to his entire body weight.
That's why he is Narayan. Though he may have been forced to deceive Vrinda, he more than makes up for it.
Would we still worship Vrinda today, if she were only Mrs Jalandhar?
