^^^^ Actually according to the ACK, Mahadeva reads Kubera's mind and realizes what he is up to and decides to teach him a lesson. At first Mahadev says, no he cannot attend Kubera's function. Then Kubera asks Parvati- who says that she cannot attend w/o Shiva.

Kubera then pleads to Mahadev that he had already sent the invites and will now look like a fool if neither Shiva nor Paravti attend. Mahadev thinks "That's the whole point- to make you look like a fool"

Mahadev then says that he will send Ganesh who will be the chief guest.

They can very well show Gannu going to Kuber's palace... instead of Mahadev himself...after all the whole of it is Mahadev's idea to teach Kuber a lesson...!! 😊
