Family reunion? Why just the three kids? The CVs could have adapted the Bengal version and included Lakshmi and Saraswati. Why leave out Upamanyu? Even he was adopted as son by Shiva. And oh! while we are at it- the Cvs can look towards Kerala for inspiration and bring in Ayyapa as well. And since Asur raj Bali is in the picture- invite him to the family reunion as well. He too got the privilege of being treated as son by Shiva.

Now, that's a family reunion

Parashuram's story is for Ganesh becoming Ekdanta.

I've always loathed Parashurama - in fact, a good deal of my disdain for Vishnu arises from that avatar.

This story of Ganesh being wounded by Parashurama doesn't make sense. If Parashurama was so powerful, how did he get defeated by Bheeshma? Either Kartikeya or Ganesh could have made short work of him.

Incidentally, I haven't noticed, so will look more carefully - is Bappa typically depicted w/ 2 tusks or 1?
