Shailputri- Parvati means female aspect of Parvat (mountain) and henceforth, being the daughter of Himavan (Himalaya), She is known as Shailputri. Shail (Mountain) and Putri (daughter). Her vahan is Vrishabh (Taurus), also known as neervrisharuda.
Brahmacharini- Brahm means tapassya (penance) and charini means the female doer,the bachelorette ,who did great tapassya (penance) to obtain Mahadev as her husband through sola somvaar vrat. She also acquired her adi shakti powers by this vrat.
Chandraghanta- also known as Chandi or Chandika. She has her third eye always opened and moon in the form of ghanta (bell) on her head or crown like lord Shiv has. She is warrior aspect of Devi Parvati. Parvati had to take this form during the battle against Shumbh-Nishumbh and had killed Dumralochan in this form. She is very peace and welfare giving but is everyready to battle. She has eight hands, each holding different weapons and. Her vahan (vehicle) is Singh or Vanraj (Lion). By worshipping her, one can be asured about being fearless and brave as well as calm and polite. The deaths that she gives is for happiness and relief while one happens to be fearless about his death.
Kushmanda- by her silent smile, universe comes into existence and henceforth, she is known as Kushmanda. Asthbhuja, Shastradharini, Vagrahvahini, Hiranyavarna, She is the only one who lives inside the surya (sun). All the ten ways in the universe, starts from and ends at her.
Skandmata- means the mother of Skand (Kartikey). by her mercy, an illiterate can also gain lots of wisdom. She is singhvahini (lion rider). By worshipping her, one gets moksh meaning peaceful freedom/death from life.
Kathyayini- She had killed the Bufallo demon Mahishasur. by worshipping her, one gets good-natured, successful in love, moksh.
Kaalratri- she is dark in complexion and her hairs are always open and spreaded. She has iron swordin one hand and thorny vajra in the other hand. Her blessings results into auspicous happenings and work. She destroys darkness. By worshipping her, one can even scare the demons.
Maha Gauri- She has clean mind and wears white clear clothings. She is ingenious, holds a Trishul (a weapon). She is extremely fair and blesses her devotee for the same and gives various boons.
Siddhidhatri- animaa, mahima, garima, laghima, prapti, prakamya, ishitva and vashitva are eight siddhis that can be obtained by her mercy. She had granted Lord Shiv, his Ardhnareshwar roop.
