Shumbh, Nishumbh were shown helping Tarakasur, Raktabeej & Dhumralochan were their army. After they showed Ma Kali killing RB, they just ran away to save their lives.

They'll be back in future. Durgama has to kill them too..

The devas.

Given everything else they've been changing about the story, why not rewrite the story so that Ma Durga returns to slay the evil Indra, and makes the enlightened Shumbha the ruler of all the Devas. Then we can start another Durga Puja to this time celebrate Ma Durga's victory over Indra 😈 Do that one just when spring starts - somewhere in the February-March timeframe.

Maybe, they can introduce the concept of a 'board' as they do in companies, instead of having just 1 king, they should have members of a board, and a chairman. Make Kartikeya the chairman, and assign other board seats to Shumbha, Nishumbha, Vritra, Agni, Vayu, Surya, and so on. Shumbha can become the CEO of Trilok. 😆

If that happens then Gods will come from Asura's side. There will be new set of Gods & Goddess, all the Puranas & scriptures will be rewritten & we would have been celebrating some Asuri's puja, not Durga puja. 😆

It's Durga Puja, not Deva Puja, so there is no reason for Durga Puja itself to be replaced. Only instead of Durga slaying Mahishashur, Durga can slay Indra, and we can celebrate that around Spring. Ma Durga will preside over the Asuras (maybe they might prefer Mahakali)

We could have Vidyunmali, Tarakaksh & Kamalaksh, we could have Bali, Indrajit, Vibhishan, Prahlad, Vritra, Banasura, Ghatotkacha, and some others.

One set of holidays now pretty distinct from Dusshera. 😆
