I was hoping they'd do this track! I read it in the Tales of Shiva Amar Chitra Katha comic when I was a kid, though I think it was the Upanishads and not Tantra-vidya that was fatiguing her. :)

Why all such stories are popular in south only, I have never read or heard about this Matsyakanya story.

Very true CVs have not done proper research on this subject. Chakra knowledge should be in the beginning & Paravti's 6 chakras are already opened up, that's why she could do such a long tapasya.
In Satyuga a normal life span used to be 10000 years. Rishis used to do tapasya for thousands of years on their yogic power.

ya minakshi ...its because most of the stories are not recorded in sanskrit purana's but in regional linguistics, so they are not popular beyond certain area ..
i think why cvs took fisherwomen story is ...they are not symbolized by certain culture ...they are same all over our country apart from their language .and her name is kayarkanni (fisheyed or fisherwomen) in tamil

thats why they leaved goddess meenakshi story ,which needs lots of cultural adjustments thats not possible from any angle
see the painting ,even the costumes can't match

Thanks Meena for the update. I watched the epi yesterday. The way they showed the days passing was very unimpressive.
But yeah, i agree with most posts above, I have slept through so many classes and being quite tall would be in the last bench. So one to disturb either. But when i was punised and asked to sit in the first bench I would sleep with my eyes open😃. its an art which only lazy bones like me can have I guess.
But yes, when did she sleep during tantra vidya. If I am remeber reading right, shiva modified tantra vidya based on his discussions with Parvati too.
But shouldnt ganesha come in before karthikeya!!!!!!!
and Vrish Kal El beat me to it. That ACK has this story. The picture on it is ofcourse of markandeya.
I also watched the tamil movie thiruvaliyadal with my hubby (He is a tamilian and I needed some one to translate it for me). Its damn good. If you have a tamil translator do watch it. Its awesome. Many stories of Shiva are there which is very nice.
