hmmm finding more errors as I watch today's episode.

Madad - now this is probably Arabic.

Why are they getting lazy/lax over this???? 😕 It's one of the things I admired about the show.

btw .Vrish. "bicchu" itself is a corruption of "Vrischika" 😆

The sanskrit "Vrischika" becomes the prakrit "vicchua" and then the hindi "bicchua"

As krishna mentioned, they "borrowed" the story from Guru Nanak's life, my guess is they must've also borrowed the vocab...

clearly they are getting lackadaisical...

seems I have become the vocab police 😉 😆

And yeah u r right. They use more sort of mixed words rather than sanskrit. Madad should hav been sahayata and vicchu vrishchika. Or so I thought lol.
And prakrit huh? I had known about prakrit byakaran. What is it? Could u tell me?

But as they hav targeted all age groups, that must be reason for the minimum usage of sanskrit. But again they should hav tried to use the basic sanskrit words rather than Urdu. This was something that I had noticed all the way.

Here's the 2 min explanation!

Prakrit, literally from prakrta (natural/ordinary etc) is contrasted with Sanskrit samskrta (cultured/refined). It is considered a sort of vernacular. You might also think of Prakrit as a middle language between Sanskrit on the one hand and Hindi on the other. As a sort of link between the classical and modern. Does that make sense?

There are various kinds of regional Prakrits - Maharashtrian Prakrit for example. It was also a literary language. Many Buddhist texts are written in a kind of Prakrit as well as many famous works of literature.

In fact, Sanskrit plays use a mixture of Sanskrit and Prakrit. The heroes, the males of upper castes will speak classical sanskrit whereas the women, the servants etc will speak in Prakrit. So very often when you see a published version of a famous sanskrit drama, you will see the Prakrit (depending on the character) and the Sanskrit translation (which makes it easier to read)!.

Agreed!

And they're not speaking in Sanskrit. They are using sanskritic vocabulary, as would be appropriate. And these are not really difficult words.

While they used Yaad, they also used smaran.

While they used madad, they also used sahayataa.

In the same dialogue!

I just think they have gotten a little lazy over this.

I thought perhaps it might be the actors themselves...often actors will substitute words that are more common while keeping the sense intact. It's quite understandable and natural. But here it actually is quite important! And I think the director should be paying more attention! And the script writers. The Bicchu dunk thing cannot be the actor - it must've been in the script!

The point is that DKDM has several geeky fans who have their ears tuned to this stuff! 😆

It's funny how my brain totally shifts gears when I am watching this show. It took a while, but I got attuned to the vocabulary. So much so that I can anticipate what they will say. Which is why when they use Arabic/Farsi/Urdu/medieval vocab...it comes as a shock...it stands out!

Satyuga's Raksha bandhan, was it the very 1st Raksha bandhan?

With Parvati asking him not to help any more in this path atleast bro Vishnuji is out of the scene. He will only watch from Vaikuntha & discuss with Lakshmiji. Like how we discuss here😆
