Wonderful topic!

http://etouch-jayanthinathan.blogspot.in/2008/12/teachings-of-sage-uddalaka-aruni.html has a very nice narration of the conversation between Aruni (Uddalaka) and his son Svetaketu where he explains "tat tvam asi".

Re: "Aham brahmaasmi" they are using it in a wrong manner in the serial. The "Brahma" referred to in that phrase is the "Brahman" - the Supreme Being. It is not the four-headed Tridev Brahma. Very irritating and simplistic. 😒

Advaitha continued

So now as we have realized that everything is brahman then why do we feel that

Each of us separate from each other ?

if we could resolve this question then all of our life's problems would be solved. As long as " Aham" "I " exists the problems associated with it also exist.

As advaitha vedantha says there is no dual existence of atma and paramatma that should solve our problems.

the question is how do we make sense of this because according to our daily experiences we are all separate from each other.

The answer lies in what we call as "perception"

what we feel everyday is what we perceive through our senses. so our world view is limited by what our senses can perceive

to know the true nature of this Universe we have to apply logic which goes beyond our senses

to let us understand the perception part i will present three cases of perception

1) Our senses show this world in 3 Dimensions XYZ

2) Special relativity says there is fourth dimension i.e the Time ( yes time is not absolute for every one) so 4 dimesions

3) String Theory states that there are N dimensions in this world

on the whole what we perceive might not be absolute truth it is mere illusion limited to only one perception.

so it comes down to the Fact that

" Our world view is the experience we get by perceiving this Brahman through our perceptual plane"

this perceptual plane or clouded smoke screen which occludes the real nature of Brahman is called Maya

i have now introduced the term Maya we continue the discussion in the next post, i would be very happy to get any questions regarding my post.

i would like to say that this what i have understood and there may be some mistakes in it. i would appreciate if somebody corrects them

Regards
Krishna

Awesome post Krishna and meera.

I love another word: Shiboham : Shib+Aham : I am Shib, I am peace I am ultimate.

Keep posting more about it. Here are my two cents:

Advaita vedanta is a very difficult practise. Only those who have had full realisation of self can precisely practise it. The whole worship of idols or duality concept is nothing but stepping stone for the self realisation. Once you gain enlightenment, you gradually feel the one ness of you and the infinity.

However saying i fully understand Ekatva and practising in real life is difficult. Saying I am as same as you are sounds nice. But it also holds true when we are pricked by a thorn. The feeling of pain itself is an illusion because I and thorn are the same.

Yes it is very difficult Human life is so surrounded and involved in this surreal sensory perception
that it is very difficult to come out of it.

i will keep posting on it, and thanks again for all the encouragement from all of you
