Advaitha continued

Brahman what is it ?

so what is brahman. we have been talking of brahman but we have not defined it.

Root word of Brahman is brh which means to grow, enlarge and very large in sanskrit and the gender is neuter gender.

It signifies a thing which large, big , strong and many other superlatives.

to understand brahman we first define its attributes

1) It should be absolute in every respect

2) should be independent of time and other factors

3) should be with out change and constant

so what is the thing that never changes in this world or universe ? and is always constant? and is also absolute?

whatever things we observe in this world have not been in that form forever, they have changed million forms and will still take million forms.

for example human existence is limited to 100 years, before that this body is had some million other forms and will also have some million other forms. so calling it by certain name and assuming it to be unique is absolutely not true.

Present form is just one of the billions of earlier or future forms this body will take.
so calling each other by names and considering one as unique is fallacy and is due to Maya.
our vision is obscured by the time limitedness of our life.

So what then is absolute?

However when you take this whole universe or srusti as a whole it never changes, the total energy in it is constant and will never change with time or any other factor.

Einstein's E=mc2 also tells us the same
E is the energy and m is the mass and both are interchangeable.

so when you consider this whole universe including you as one, you will observe that you have attained or understood brahman.

when you consider parts of it however, it is continuously changing.

so this whole universe is manifested form of brahman.

i have now defined the manifested form of brahman. in further discussion we will see
what actually is brahman according to our vedas and upanishads.

please feel free to ask questions, that might even correct my mistakes and we can also have exchange of ideas.

regards
Krishna

Awesome. Just wanted to add:

No one reall understands what is Brahman. We can fill pages writing and saying about it but it all will go naught. The one who has realised who and what is Brahman will not speak of it, because he will be so full with the bliss that he won't be able to differentiate between you and me and him and her.

Not really bhagawan ramana maharshi of arunachalam in tamil nadu gave detailed discourses of advaitha. He also laid down the specific procedure to realize brahman called self inquiry. Yes the path is difficult but not impossible.

if i have time i will definitely post about self inquiry.

as i said in some other topic, Not every ordinary human being can enjoy the bliss and stay on. Its only special people, with special powers to enlighten us who can come on and off from such situation.
What i said is a rough translation from one of the discourses of Sree Sree Ramakrishna. He said one who has understood who and what Brahman is, really felt with heart, he won't waste time discussing about it, or cannot. UNless he has received special divine powers to talk about it.

and yes the path is difficult but not impossible but that was not what i said either.

I do not know the context in which he had said that however, bhagawan had devised this method especially for layman to realize the self and it is the most commonly practiced form in attaining self.

i request you to go through this link.
