Neither did Sati, Daksh, Prasuti, even Rohini or Chandra...and I am glad... it would have been too distracting IMO.

But this is an interesting point...older texts probably don't add "ji" to names as an honorific...my suspicion is that it is a recent development...& confined to N. India.

Anyone else have any thoughts about this?

If I remember correctly, in the Mahabharata Krishna is addressed by everyone as Krishna (among other things of course) no ji...just thinking of one of my fav lines in the Gita: "Chanchalam hi manah Krishna"...not "chanchalam hi manah Krishna ji" 😆

Anyway, in South India, we don't use ji. I don't use it - it was not part of my cultural training! 😆

I got what u meant. 😃 In the show, they depict Taki doing ghor tap, getting his boon, and then almost laughing at Mahadev's "bholapan"...😆

anyway, I was just interested in your comment about "ji" in general...it just got me thinking about who started to add it and when and where ...

As I said, we don't have that in S India. We have other honorifics of course.😃

Subha

That is very true. Not only that, the asuras are also the reason for the mere existence of so many gods, as well as Vishnu himself taking at least 4 avatars - Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana and Rama. Here are the gods & goddesses that the asuras were responsible for invoking:
  • Durga (by Mahishashur, although did Parvati invoke Durga earlier when Ganesh was beheaded?)
  • Kartikeya (by Tarakasura/Surapadman, depending on which a/c one is going by)
  • Ayappa (by Mahishi, forcing Shiva & Vishnu to conceive a son 🤣
Any others I missed? In other words, any other deities whose existence we owe to our beloved asuras, rakshashas and danavas?

On the -ji honorific above, it is a modern invention. I doubt that even in the 18th century that it existed. Also, I am amused when people say things like Shivaji - I always think about the founder of the Maratha nation when I hear that, rather than Mahadev.

Was Kans an asur or a human? He had more qualities of an asur/rakshas.One of da reasons why Lord Vishnu took birth as Krishna was 2 kill him.

Reshama kans was not an asur, he was yadava and he was related to Krishna. I heard some where that kans was asura who took human birth i am not sure though.

but he was definitely Human with asuric qualities dominating his other qualities. Kans was also a very ardent follower of devi shakti.

he was a profound devotee of devi shakti

regards
Krishna

There is a difference between Shivaji & Shivji. One is human other one is God.

Very disappointed in Taki today...How could he disrespect his own guru? 😲

But Shukracharya ROCKED! He is so totally freaking awesome! ⭐️
