First of all, shiva in dat movie looks more like a king dan a human being.den he is shown as angry bcoz sati went 2 attend daksh's yagya widout his consent.den dere is a war among dem and den shiv kills sati.den shiv does a funny tandav dance😆and makes parvati who will always listen 2 him.😆
i am really feeling angry on da writers who change da indian mythology 2 prove deir own chauvinistic ideology.

it was so bad at the same time funny ,i read some comments which were in the favour of shiv killing sati ,i l post it here

yes you are very right but this clip is from the movie thiruvilayadal. About Lord shiva playing divine games to teach the universe certain truths.. here he " destroys " shakthi to show that shiva cannot exist without her and vice versa.. this results in the universe thrown into full chaos and destruction as? seen in his tandava dance.. this clip's subtitles are hopeless and thus it distorts the meaning of this episode, if u can understand tamil pls watch the full movie.. its good. Jai Bolenath

he does like that in order to prove 😆

This is an old movie, must be already seen by many. Absolutely ficticious.
The character called Shiva here has such a funny costume, Red shorts, rings in all the 4 fingers, necklace. Except his name there is nothing like Lord Shiva in him. Entire thing is absolutely hillarious.😆

Not just youtube...that is a reflection of how petty human minds can become.

Today we have the net and social media where we can voice our opinion and be heard but efforts to drive a wedge between Shiv and Shakti or Ram and Sita have taken place in the past and individual efforts like these have actually been recorded in the form of books even Puranas have not been spared.

Take the case of Ram and Sita and the infamous Agnipariksha. The first question that came to my mind was that why would Ram take the trouble of rescuing his wife from Ravana if he was not really sure of her "purity".He could have just dumped her and maintained an acquisition of Lanka. It just does not go with all the qualities ascribed to him.

Such idiots do not spare any form of God...they say Sri Krishna was fond of many women and did Ras Leela with so many women. Such people do not even passingly mention the fact that Sri Krishna was known as Yogeshwar Sri Krishna and the foremost pillar of Yog is Brahmcharya . Raas leela is the divine dance between God and the thousands of nerves in our body that take place once Kundalini Jagran happens.

Inferiority and superiority between Gods is a figment of the fertile imagination of such fools and it is our misfortune that most of the literature composed after the four vedas is adulterated with such nonsense.

Vanadhi Id like you to respond on this, i had also seen that movie, Dakhsa legend is not so prevalent in Tamil Country. Is this this alternate story of parvathi that is prevalent in Tamil nadu?

I had come across not just one movie but also another movie which is similar to this one.

Regards
Krishna

Correction: I wanted to say Himavan legend rather than dakhsa legend

This might be yet another cinemtatic "interpretation"...

On the other hand, it just might have a basis in some regional source, the Thiruvilayadal, as Vanadhi suggested. I am from Tamil Nadi too and I will try and find out from my family/friends.

Look, I suggest before we condemn outright, we might do well to find out whether this story has some basis in the Thiruvilayadal Puranam. Please realize one thing. Hindu mythology is not a monolith. There are variations across region and across time. These versions/variations hold deep significance for people. So lets try and be respectful of that. The Thiruvilayadal Puranam (not the film 😆) is v. important to Shaivites in South India.

Mira 😊

Actually, this channel Puranicfilms does have a collection of a lot of unusual clips about Mythology. Needless to say, not all of them are from recognized or even recognizable scriptures, and some are exactly the type described in this thread.

The first one 'Arjun shoots Krishna in the head' is there - am not sure about its vintage, since it's in b/w. There is one 'Vishnu tries to kill Lakshmi' as well as the first one in this thread 'Shiva kills Sati'. It has the one about Bhrigu kicking Vishnu on his chest and Lakshmi, who's depicted as his daughter, being insulted and leaving. 😕

However, the channel owner seems to be collecting some of the bizarre depictions of mythological events, but there are some interesting ones as well, like Satyabhama's previous birth, a lot about Rama & Sita. Of course, it even has another vintage video about Sita being Ravan's daughter - something that was once discussed briefly in the Ramayan forum. There is one that has Ravan recollecting his past life and the curse of Jaya & Vijaya (Vishnu's doormen). There is nothing to suggest that Ravan actually knew who he was.

Note that most of those videos were from the 70s and the 80s. By comparison, some of the modern serials certainly do a far better job in depicting mythological events - and not just due to more advanced computerized special effects.

These old videos particularly illustrate why people should make distinctions b/w material actually there in the shastras, vs stuff that was included in various literary works after being twisted.

Or even stuff in movies & serials 😆

it is a old tamil movie which was a blockbuster.
remember it was released during the time when mythological films were a craze and people did not have much knowledge about the truth. they had no options for research. so they believed what they saw. or even though they knew the truth they enjoyed what they saw.

I am not sure actually, but i believe it is definitely different than other parts of the country. you see Himavan ( Himalaya ) is very far from Tamil nadu so i will not be surprised if they actually have one.

i am hoping that some one from tamil nadu will respond on this query.

Some Ram bhakts won't agree wid me here.few days bak,i posted something similar and one member tried 2 prove me wrong.Actually dere was no agnipariksha of sita.what happened was dat Ram already knew dat sita is going 2 be kidnapped by Ravan so he left da real sita wid Agnidev. What Ravan kidnapped was jst a mere reflection of Sita, not da real Sita.So after Ram killed Ravan,he brought bak da real Sita frm Agnidev. Some writers misunderstood dis or purposely namaed dis as 'Agnipariksha'2 test Sita's purity. When i posted dis few months bak, someone jumped on me and said dat i was wrong and dere was indeed an Agnipariksha.😆C'mon guys,Ram is called as Maryada pushottam.how can he do such a thing?😆
