In a TV show, it is extremely difficult to show that two people have the same soul- that two people are infact the same person UNLESS they are played by the same person.
If Sonarika had played Sati, then I would have wanted her to play Parvati as well. However, that is not the case.
I am putting my desires aside and looking at this religiously. Please try to do the same.
Shiv loved and married only one person- AdiShakti. Now, if there are two different people with different faces, different voices, different everything- won't that be misjudged by viewers who do not know the story of Shiv & AdiShakti? I mean no disrespect, but won't it seem like there were two people who Shiv married, when infact that is NOT true?
The key to Parvati and Sati is that they are the same person with key similarities and key differences. The only way to show those hugely important similarities is to have Mouni be Parvati! She has an innocent looking face and she can look really simple! The thing that portrays one's personality and feelings the most is expressions and Mouni is OUTSTANDING... she has already proven herself.
I'm sorry for this post. I don't know if there is any hope left for Mouni or not, but I am still praying.
My mother who never judges anyone who plays god, because she believes that you should see god in everyone who plays him/her, said that Mouni should have been Parvati.
Tptwi...I'd beg to differ on this point...most of the time on a TV show the only reason a reincarnation track with the same actors is introduced is when the same actors don't want to get older through a leap track and the producers want to keep them in the show, like in Kumkum. But we're not looking at the Parvati track as a track conveniently introduced to extend the serial, but as a logical - and already recorded - develoment. As far as I have seen, the CVs have left no stone unturned to make sure we know that Sati and Parvati are different facets of Aadi Shakti herself, and that Aadi Shakti is a part of both -- and therefore, that Sati is not exactly what Aadi Shakti looks like in real (the moment Sati dies, Aadi Shakti appears in her original roop).
We see Lord Vishnu's incarnations in Parasurama, Rama and Krishna as well...all three of them possess the same aatman and are representations of the same god, and rarely are they ever played by the same people. How is it that we're able to understand their connection to Lord Vishnu, but can't make out the connection between Sati and Parvati when the groundwork has been so painstakingly laid?
In addition to this, let's also look closely at the scene where Sati rejects her family - needless to say her own body - in open court before her death. She very clearly specifies that her purpose in this body is over, that she does not want to exist within the body of Dakshayini anymore, which she sees as a stumbling block to her true understanding of Lord Shiva. End of the day, it is only a body, a vessel that houses the soul temporarily. Much as I love Mouni's portrayal, I think her becoming Parvati would defeat the whole purpose of Sati's death, given that Sati as an person is still a product of a union between Daksha and his wife.
Also, using the same actor for two different reincarnation roles is basically an easier way out that many movies and TV shows use, because you need not lay as much groundwork...but I know of at least one example of a hit reincarnation movie where two actors were used to portray a reincarnation -- and that movie was Karz. All it takes is a little more effort to make the audience aware of the connections.
That said, Sonarika looks lovely in the pictures we've seen of her so far!
