According to the purans the planet Mars is Shivaji's son he was born after Sati's passing when Shiva was meditating and few drops of sweat fell on earth,Prithvi the earth Goddess adopts him as her son.

Hope CVS soon show Mangal's birth, they already show some planets; Surya dev, Chandra dev, Brihaspati and Shukracharya.

Full Story About the Birth of Magal Planet

(According to Matsya puran and Skand Puran)

Once upon a time, a very strong rakshasa called Andhaka performed a hard penance to please Lord Shiva. Bholenath (Lord Shiva) was pleased, and offered him a boon of his choice. Andhkarsura asked for a boon that everytime a drop of his blood fell on the earth, he wanted a new Andhkarsura created. Lord Shiva granted him the boon.

Armed by this powerful boon, Andhkasura started a rein of terror. Nobody could defeat him, as every successful attack that wounded him caused his blood to drop onto the ground. Everytime his blood touched the ground, it ended up creating an army of Andhakasuras. This army of Andhakasuras were very difficult to defeat. They spread destruction everywhere around, fought with kings and devas alike, and were impossible to defeat. Everyone went to Mahakaleshwar (Lord Shiva, the protector), and asked him to protect them.

Lord Shiva battled with Andhakasura, but every time Andhaka's blood touched the ground, a new Andhakasura was created. After fighting for a long time, Lord Shiva got tired. Drops of his sweat fell on earth. At the place where they fell, the earth opened up. From the womb of earth, Lord Mangal came out. Mangaldev started absorbing every drop of blood of Andhkasura that fell out. Thus, Lord Mangal assisted Lord Shiva in the battle, and prevented Andhakasura from being reborn by using his special boon. Assisted by an able Mangaldev, Mahakaaleshwar won the battle easily against Andhkasura and killed him.

It is believed that Mangal planet was born at the site of the ancient temple of Mangaldev Ujjain, the land of Mahakaal. Since Mangaldev was thus the child of Lord Shiv and Prithvi (Bhumi ' Planet Earth), Mangaldev is also called Bhaum.

The place around the battlefield is believed to have red mud. Mangaldev's complexion is also believed to have turned red because of the blood, similar in colour to the planet Mars. In Vedic astrology, Mars is known as Mangal (Auspicious), Angaraka (Burning Coal) and Kuja (The fair one).

Other Story

According to Varah Kalp, When Hiranyaksh kidnap the Prithvi, and Lord Vishu goes to rescue her, Then Prithvi asked him to became her husband. Vishuji being in Varah Avatar accepted and live with her sometime. So Magal Grah was there son.

Yes Mangal does have a role in the story, he is said to do immense tapasya to lord Shiva who makes him a planet and gives him a place in the graha mandal. It shows how much power Lord Shiva has over planets!

Lord Shiva is above all the planets. Does Mangal graha have any role to play in this Shiv-Parvati story, that's what I wanted to know.

Mangal is actually regarded to be Bhoomi(Prithvi) son about Shiva i dont know-you can call him someone who was an ansh of Shiva, and he did severe penace to get his planetary postition, and Shiva granted him the boon, infact Shiva even granted a boon to Mercury, also known as Budh,Chandras illegitimate son,but that comes much later
Mangal is one of the most powerful planets...but generally perceived that having a Mangal in your Kundali is bad...but actually a Mangal can either result in something good,or it can be something bad, depending upon the house in which it resides, when a Mangal in someones Kundali is at its lowest point it can result in the death for a woman of her closest male family member,Husband or father, and it similarly affects a man who may loose his wife or mother...a Mangalik(if placed bad) can ideally marry after the age of 30,or marry another Manglik, but if the Mangal Dosh is REALLY bad it is advised that the person should not marry,if doing Poojas etc do not change the effect of mangal! However if someone has a Good Mangal then it only results in Good things and can even protect the spouse from any impending bad...hence the word "Mangal" is also associated with Good Things
Mangal, the planet Mars rules the sunsigns of Aries and Scorpion, and is signified by the stone of a red coral and its ruling Number is a number 5(i think) and its color is red,,and those having troble in the Mangal are advised to worship him on a Tuesday(Mangalwar),Mangal graha represnts energies, ego and confience in ones personality
its one of the most powerful and influencial planets out of the Navgraha...
since they have shown Prithvi, they can show the Mangal story side to side also, because as per what i know when Shiva granted a boon to Mangal he made him even more influencial than Shukra/Shukracharya/Venus!

Shruti, this Astro. aspect of Mangal has nothing to do with the Shiv-Parvati story. I wanted to know about his role in the current show's story, unless they imagine something.😆

Devi Bhagavat has a story about Mangal grah worshipping a form of Devi Chandi, which is known as Mangal-Chandi, who is worshipped to get mangal-auspicious benifits in life by women.
Once shivji was going for a war, he too worshipped Devi Mangal-Chandi, due to that he won the war.

Shruti, I was joking. In fact I was introduced to the Chakra & Kundalini while studying a subject called " Swara-yoga" in the 2nd year of my Astro. course, which is a convo between Shivji & Parvati.
