I know it was posted but actually i was reading Ramayan n found it n want to share with u all that Satiji born as human was not the barrior between Shiv Sati but the thing was Satiji's had doubted Lord Rama,of Why Shivji prays him?So in ordr to test Ramji she changed her identity to Sitaji, which was a big sin beacause Shivji praised Sitaji as Mata due to which Shivji left her n went for about 87000 years of samadhi .Satiji was so depressed n all alone that she herself asked Lord Ram for her death. If she was waitin 4 shivji for so long years then ,how mortality or immortality is a hardle btween Shiv Sati?N wen she jumpd in fire she asked a boon to Lord Rama that she be devoted to Shiva's feet in successive births

Full story given down ,all from Ramayan

Sati's doubts

In the age of Treta, Shiva, accompanied by His consort Bhavani Sati, went to visit Rishi Khumbajh. The Rishi being pleased with Shiva's visit, began to narrate the eternal story of Ram. Shiva listens with great pleasure and then they return back towards Their abode. Around these exact days Ram had descended on earth and was wondering the Dandaka forest with Sita and Lakshman. Shiva ponders how he can catch sight of Ram. He finally sees Ram, who is frantically searching for Sita, and instantly joins his palms and prays "Glory to the Redeemer of the universe, who is Truth, Consciousness and Bliss". Sati cannot recognise Ram and wonders why her Supreme Shiva is praising a mortal. Shiva is the knower of all truth and instantly reads Sati's thoughts. He advises her to not harbour such doubts and accept that she had seen Ram, whom Agastya had praised earlier. He finally says that if she is still not convinced then she should seek to verify this truth herself. Shiva observes as Sati takes the guise of Sita. Ram and Lakshman instantly see through Sati's disguised and asks about Shiva's whereabouts. Sati feels very uncomfortable and heads towards Shiva, thinking of how she is going to explain her stupidity of questioning His word.

Shiva asks her to tell the truth of how she tested Ram. Sati is unable to tell the truth and says that she did not test Ram, but praised his as You had. Sati forgets that Shiva knows all that has happened and is disappointed that she was disguised as his Sita. He decides that Sati is too chaste to abandon and it is a sin to continue to be her Husband and so from then he has no connection with Sati in her current body. Sati concludes that Shiva has come to know everything and feels very foolish for having tried deceiving Him. Shiva sits under a banyan tree and enters into a long trance. Sati feel extremely sorry but accepts that providence is repaying her for her sins. Many years pass and Shiva finally ends his trance whilst praising Ram. Sati bows down at Shiva's feet, after which he seats Sati opposite him and he begins to tell stories of Vishnu's exploits.

while Shiva is narrating the stories of Vishnu, the air is filled with celestial beings. Sati asks Shiva what the occasion is. Shiva explains that Her father Daksha has organised a great sacrifice where many demigods were invited. All except Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva were invited as Daksha had developed a hatred towards the Gods. Sati thinks of Her father and asks if She may visit him at this time. Shiva says that they have no formal invite and that all of Sati's sisters are invited but because of his animosity towards Shiva, Her father has not invited us. Shiva tries to reason with Sati, that no good can come of Her attending, but Tulsidas explains that a daughters ties to her father are very strong.

When she reaches her father's abode, no one welcomes Her apart from Her mother. Daksha does not even acknowledge Her and actually burns with anger that She has turned up uninvited. Sati looks around and sees no oblations set apart for Shiva and the lack of respect of her father causes Her mind to rage with great anger. She faces Her father's court and announces that Shiva is the father of the universe and the beneficent of all. It is the same Shiva that Her stupid father vilifies. She burns Her body with the fires of Yoga. Shiva sends Virabhadra, who reeks havoc of the sacrifice and Daksha is slain. As Sati is about to die, She asks Lord Hari of the boon that she be devoted to Shiva's feet in successive births. She is reborn as Parvati, the daughter of Himachal and Mena.

I have read it too; thanks for posting- BUT it is one version- If Rama was in Treta Yuga and Sati then Parvati were in Sat yuga- the story by Tulsidas seems to be an imaginative one- is there any such version in Valmiki Ramayan? I find it so hard to be convinced by Tulsidas' version especially as the Yugas were different. but the sotry by Tulsidasji is a good one- however hard to believe.

1 Satya Yuga 1,728,000 human years

Treta Yuga 1,296,000
Dvapara Yuga 864,000

Kali Yuga 432,000

__________

Total 4,320,000 One yuga cycle.

Ram avatar was in the last quarter of Treta yuga. Sati & Parvati's story is of Sat-yuga. So Sati's existance till the last quarter of Treta yuga is doubtful.
2. Sita before going for her Swayamvar had prayed to Gauri/ Parvati, so Parvati existed much before Sita.
3. Many of our Mytho show makers have shown Ram-Sita's story. I clearly remember in one of the old Myho show, May be Maa Shakti, they had shown Parvati testing Ram.
4. This is from the D & D thread.
Just came across this bhajan of Lord Shiva. From 2:50-3.25 the singer mentions that its Parvati who came to test Lord Rama.

All these shows Parvati tested Ram, so Sati praying for her own death, She testing Ram version doesn't make sense. May be this story was added later in other Puranas after Tulasidas wrote it.
Otherwise some of our Mytho show maker would have surely shown this story. It is said that some stories which were noti n the original version, are added later on, this may be one such story.

Rudra Samhita gives this story, which seems difficult to believe.
LORD BRAHMA FACES THE WRATH OF SHIVA

Daksha presented invaluable things to his daughter- Sati as dowry. Similarly the brahmins were presented with large quantities of wealth.

Lord Brahma was enchanted by the divine beauty of Sati. With a desire to see her face, he put logs of wood which were wet, into the yagni kunda and poured ghee on them. As a result the atmosphere was filled up with smoke.

Now Brahma removed the piece of cloth which covered her face. He became infatuated by her beauty. When lord Shiva discovered about his evil intentions he ran towards him menacingly. Lord Shiva wanted to kill him, but the deities prayed to spare his life. Lord Vishnu eulogised and worshipped him and only then his anger was subdued. Thus lord Brahma was forgiver by Shiva.

Hi -this story also does appear in Shiv Puran as Meenakshi has said. There also it says that Shivji has mentioned to Vishnuji aur Brahmadev ki if Sati ever doubts him he will abandon her. It is like a shart of their vivaah. It is this moment where they see Sri Ram wandering heartbroken in Dandakaran that Sati doubts what Shivji is explaining to her about Sri Ram losing his beloved Sita. And the doubt Sati has on Shivji's words starts the cycle toward their eventual separation.

I guess there must be many stories about the reason behind their coming apart again 😭. But since it had to happen, I guess here must have been reason!

Bhakti, Ram & Sati both existed in 2 different yugas, that's what makes this story more doubtful. It wasn't Sati who tested Ram, it was Parvati. Sita had worshipped Parvati who had blessed her before going to the swayamvar, so Sati testing Ram is not possible. This Brhma's part of him getting infatuated to Sati is posted to show that there are inconsistancies in those stories.
