After Seeing the luv story of Shiva and Sati a question started dwelling in my mind...
the way Shiv and Sati / Parvati got married what wud have been d story of the marriage of Lakshmi and Vishnu and found something related to our Forum...
Here is what I read...

Lakshmi in Vishnu purana :

According to the Vishnu Purana, Lakshmi is the daughter of Bhrigu and Khyaati and resided in Swarga but due to the curse of Durvasa, she left Swarga and made Ksheersagara her home. The reappearance of Lakshmi after Samudra manthan and her marriage to Vishnu thereafter, remain the same. Laxmi is the power and Maya of Lord Vishnu. In some places She is seen in two forms, Bhudevi and Sridevi, both either side of Vishnu. Bhudevi is the fertility form in which She is Mother Earth. Sridevi is the wealth and knowledge of Her which is seen with Narayan. Most people are mistaken that they are separate beings although they are one, Laxmi.

Can someone Acknowledge me further?

Laxmi as daughter of Bhrigu and Khyati was an incarnation of Laxmi. Similarly, Laxmi as appearing from samudra manthan was also an incarnation of Laxmi.

About Shiva and Sati:

People say tht Sati's real name was Gauri...This is what I read:
In bidding the Goddess to take human birth, Brahma's design was that she should please Shiva with humble devotions and wed him. It was natural that Gauri, even as a child, adored the tales and legends associated with Shiva and grew up an ardent devotee. As Gauri grew to womanhood, the idea of marrying anyone else, as intended by her father, became anathema to her.

Hey there What you are saying is right but this tale is way ahead of Shiv-Sati story. Parvati, who is re-incarnation of Sati, is called Gauri (and is the mother of Lord Ganesha, that is why in Ganeshotsav we have a day when Gauri prasthans to some houses, that is why the houses that keep them both are said to have Gauri-Ganpati and are most auspicious. She actually comes to take her son away is what they say... but then thats a different story lol)
Parvati's father was not a jerk like Prajapati and he actually supported of his daughter's decision of marrying Shiv.
I dont want to spoil the rest of the story, so I will just say that much. :) Gauri is not Sati but Parvati!
