I tried posting in the doubts and discussions section, but no one responded...
I tried searching google, but got no answers...

I would really appreciate if someone could take a few moments to answer these two questions..

In the recent SBS interview, Mohit says that Shiv does not know who Parvati is and he is really confused when his anger calms down after seeing her. Does this mean Shiv doesn't realize until later that she is in fact his Sati/AdiShakti?

Also, did Sati and Parvati have the same face or different faces?

Reshma

Sorry, checking it out, found out that the Shiva purana, Skanda purana & Devi puranas are all not there.

I googled, and found this site containing the Shiva puranas. It seems a tad abridged, so if anyone has the originals, including the Sanskrit originals, nothing like it. But it seems simple enough to give people a true account of what happened. Some stories there, even I had never read of - like Mahadev and the imitation Parvati

I'll google more later to see if I can dig up Skanda Purana and Devi Purana

Well, idk if this was what really happened, as the creatives of the show have incorporated a bunch of fiction into the show. But yes, apparently, Shivji does not know that Parvati is Aadishakti.

And obviously Parvati and Sati looked different. They have the same soul but different bodies. It's like asking of Ram and Krishna looked the same. They didn't.
This is not Om Shanti Om where the same person is reborn with the same face.

In the recent SBS interview, Mohit says that Shiv does not know who Parvati is and he is really confused when his anger calms down after seeing her. See thats what Mohit the actor says according to his understanding of the character he's playing not Lord shiva's words 😊 Lord Shiva knows past present and future just like the other two Gods of holy trinity.. so in my opinion Shiva always knew about Sati's fate and also Parvathi's rebirth. Does this mean Shiv doesn't realize until later that she is in fact his Sati/AdiShakti? Mohit the actor is probably acting to not realize it but Lord Shiva always knew 😊

Also, did Sati and Parvati have the same face or different faces? Nobody saw them in person.. all the pictorial depictions are based on the varnan's given in purana's and according to them they didn't look alike.

My answers r in red 😊 tried answering u as per my knowledge about Shiva and his better half 😊 won't claim it to be totally correct.. so u r free to interpret the way u want.

Does DS refer to Durga Shaptashati ? If, it occurs as a part of Markandeya Purana.

My grandma says it is a dipiction of pralaya and what remains beyond. Rishi markandeya has written devi puran and durga saptashati and has created mantras like ya devi, jayanti mangala kali, sarva mangal mangalye etf

The story behind this incident is something like this.

Markandeya, was blessed by Shiva / Devi to be a chiranjeevi for ever. By their grace, he also conquered human emotions like greed, anger, lust etc. Once he prayed to Vishnu to show him what 'maya' was (since he had overcome such feelings) . Lord Vishnu said he would oblige. At once, Markandeya saw the world around him dissolving. Everything began submerging under huge tidal waves. He found himself walking even amidst all the water. When there was nothing but water all around him. he saw Lord Vishnu lying on a banyan leaf, in the form of a baby, sucking the big toe of his foot with his mouth- as if to imply that the whole world is transient, and He, Narayana, alone is the only constant aspect.

This occurred only in Markandeya's mind- not in reality.

This forms the basis of the famous sloka

Karaara Vindeyna Padaara Vindam
Mukhaara Vindey Vinivey Shayantam
Vatasya Patrasya Kuche Shayaanam
Baalam Mukundam Manasaa Samaraami.

Devi Bhagavatam, Devi Purana and Devi Mahatmiya

Each of the above three is distinct and different from each other.

I will write about the third one (since we are discusing Rishi Markandeya).

Devi Mahatmiya, also known as Durga Saptashati or Chandi Path is a 700 verse Sanskrit text which occurs as a part of Markandeya Purana. In this, Rishi Markandeya narrates the story of how a king, Suratha and a trader whose name is Samadhi, gain the Devi's grace.

The king,Suratha, is betrayed by his ministers and ousted from his kingdom. Fleeing from them the king enters a dense forest and he finds himself in front of a hermitage, where Rishi Medhas is in deep meditation. The king is joined by another person- a trader named Samadhi whose has also been cheated of his wealth by unscruplous relatives.

The rishi. Medhas, in an attempt to assuage their grief, narrates the story of Devi and her battle against Shumbha and Nishumbha. This forms the text of Durga Saptashati and descibes Durga's victory over Mashishasura, Chanda and Munda, Dhumralochana, Raktabeeja and finally Shumbha and Nishumbha.

It is common to recite the Devi Kavach Stotra, Argala Stotra and Keelaka Stotra before the actual Saptahati. All the above three were also composed by Rishi Markandeya.

There is a lot of spiritual and symbolic significance behind the apparently straightforward stories in the Devi Mahtmiya. Scholars have pointed out how a subtle shift of letters in the words reveal hidden meanings.
