Chapter 31
Uday and manyta drove back to manyta's apartment in silence. manyta was staying in her apartment after the incident at home, It made her forget many old haunting memories. Uday occasionally peeped to see her face, it was tensed, why was she tensed? He wondered.
He remembered his encounter with the doctor, Dr kumar, who was his personal physician for the past 8 years, when he was conscious, dr kumar was at his side, manyta was not over there (remember , she was allowed to see uday only after 2 hours, this meeting took place in that time interval)
Flashback
Dr: uday, how are you feeling?
U: oh!!! Dr kumar, my head hurts and there is a small ache on my right side
Dr kumar starts his routine examination, checking uday's blood pressure, temperature, eyesight, hearing and the rest, and finally announces
Dr: uday, you are fine, thank god it was nothing serious. A good rest and you would be fit. You can leave in a hour
U: um!!! Doctor, is manyta outside? Or did she leave?
Dr: you mean yuvaraniji? Uday shook his head in a yes manner
Dr: yes, she is outside, she was pretty worried about your condition, now how did this accident take place?
U: she hit me
Dr: what? Are you joking?
U: no doctor, she hit me, I was just trying to make her listen to me but she did not, she just started her car and hit me.
Dr: oh, uday do you want to press charges against her?
U: no doctor, I want to deal her in my own way, did you tell her about my condition yet?
Dr: no, I did not, but I want to give her a piece of my mind
U: wait doctor, don't say anything, just say I am amnesic, I have no recollection of the past and I am highly suicidal, and special care is needed for my recovery.
Dr: uday!! Amnesia is common only in books and films, but clinically such cases are very rare, you can't fool anyone that way!!it's not possible, I can't help you in this case
U: doctor, you always wanted to have a pediatric wing for this hospital na, I would sponsor it, fully, if you will support me in this small drama, please
A pediatric wing was dr kumar's dream, but it would cost millions, and uday's offer was just so tempting, he agreed
Dr: ok, uday I will help you.

The rest was all a part of the drama, he had bought the silence of his employees too as a precaution, and he was right!!! She did try to dump him there, but now his acting skills have landed him next to her, he was going to stay with her. It is going to be fun, great fun, uday thought
They reached the apartment and uday couldn't help noticing the style and elegance of the apartment. "you have a great place to live", said uday, manyta looked at him,, her face frowned "thanks" she mumbled. Was it a normal thing for an amnesic patient to say ?she wondered. Na, she was just being over suspicious because it was uday whom she was dealing with. She tried to reason
Did he make any mistake???thought uday seeing her face, maybe he should be more careful from now on.
M: this is your room, uday, you can take rest now, I will go get something for us to eat ok, you can take a shower too
U: ok, manyta, said uday with his usual scared face. Once she was out of the apartment, he decided to investigate the apartment a bit,he did find things interesting in it and his evil brain was back in action, he decided to use those things for his own gain. "umph! Manyta let us begin this game of cat and mouse"

By the time manyta returned home, uday had showered , he was drying his hair, just a towel wrapped around his waist. Manyta looked at the greek god in front of him for a minute, but quickly recovered and said" I bought some shirts and pants for you, just try them," and she left the room soon.
Uday smirked seeing manyta's reaction "just as I wanted" he thought.

After dressing in the t shirt and pants uday came out, only to see manyata on her lappy, typing like mad! Oh god, does she has to work even at home? what am I doing to do with her? Uday came and sat next to manyta ,and asked
U: are you busy?
M: um!! Looking up and then shutting her laptop, no,I just was going through some files, nothing important. So are you feeling better now?
U: I still feel like my head is aching, it is soo painful.
M: oh, uday, I am so sorry
U: why? He asked confused
M: ergh!! Nothing, should I massage your head, it should give you some relief.
U: ah!! That would be nice, and could you tell me what you know about me, maybe it could help me remember who I am
Manyta starts massaging his head, her hands were doing magic to him, he was simply enjoying the sensation of her fingers on his scalp.
M: uday, I told you earlier na, we were business partners , we JUST had a professional relation, nothing personnel
Ya, NOTHING PERSONNEL!!! How could you lie so bluntly manyta, don't tell me you did not feel anything for me, and what happened between us, one year ago was just a one night stand????? If it was not personnel then why am I here?? Princess, you don't even know how to lie well, that's so bad!!!
U: was the office which we visited in the afternoon really mine? That was so big!!!
M: yes uday, you were a powerful business man
U: what about my family? Am I married?
I want to hear what she is going to say😳!!!!thought uday
m: eh, your family died when you were 17, I don't know how'
of course you wont know, 😲my foot, I told you that myself'
m: and you are not married
u: any girlfriends?
M: not that I know of…
Ya, only one, and she is massaging my head, cant you admit that manyta?
after some 15 minutes or so, manyta decided to serve supper, she set the plates on the table, and opened the cartons of food that she had brought, uday too sat there, and she served him food, suddenly there was a power failure
"ah, what is this? What happened to the inverter?" groaned mnayta.
"uday wait here let me go get a torch"
"ok" mumbled uday, he had switched off the inverter. It's going to be fun, manyta came to the dinning room, with a torch in her hand
"ah!! The battery is weak, what am I going to do now?" she groaned
" do you have a candle here?" asked uday
" yes, but I don't know where I kept it"
" let me help you search it" offered uday
"thanks"
Together they set of to search the kitchen and soon uday found the candle, the battery of the torch was about to die, when he lit the candle
" I guess we have to eat in this candle light" suggested uday
"ok"
They had their first candle light dinner in the most unexpected circumstances. They ate in silence, but their eyes spoke volumes, their thoughts talking to each other, unknown of what the other was thinking.
Oh god!!! youlooks so beautiful in the candle light, I just love you…"
" uday!!! You know, this was the future I wanted us to have if you wasn't…."
"manyta, I know what your feeling, its not late"
" but its too late, I am engaged"
"you are not married yet, are you?"
"isn't it wrong, if I fall in love with you when I am someone else fianc?"
"you were mine first, so isn't it wrong that you get engaged to someone else?"
"what would the society think?"
"what should they think? this is something that need to take place between individuals, so leave the society out of this"
"uday I still love you"she was shocked that her mind just thought that. She stopped looking and concentrated on her food
After they had eaten the power returned, it was a half an hour powercut , uday helped manyta with the dishes, both of them watched TV for some time and went to sleep

Uday lay on his bed, he was feeling lonely, time for acting. He lay on his bed and started screming
"HEEELP, HELP ME"
Manyta came rushing only to see him shivering in his bed, totally scared, his eyes were shut tight, it looked like he was having a night mare
"uday! Uday wake up" cried manyta, but he did not wake up
She shook him and he opened his eyes with so much fear
" its just a dream, ok, go to sleep"
Uday looked at her and pleaded " please don't let me alone… when I am alone.. I see just red and black and people screaming… please stay with me. Please sleep with me"
Manyta looked at the pleading figure in front of her and nodded.
"thank you sooo much " said uday
Manyta came and sleept by uday's side. Uday too closed his eyes, his princess was sleeping by his side, he smiled happily. when he was sure she had slept he wrapped his arms around her, and smiled contendly. he was the happiest man to have his love wrapped in his arms. he slept with a smile on his lips
