Aninditha dropped Agastya at the gate of the Ranch and scooted out before anyone spotted her there. She and Agastya had made a fool proof plan and there was no chance that it would fail.

Agastya entered the house screaming Manyata's name "Manyata!! Kaha ho tum? Abhi isi waqt mere saamne aao"

He yelled so loudly everyone including Mona maasi came out of their rooms.

"Kya hua Agastya beta? Kyon chilla rahe ho?" Mona asked him.

"Mona maasi, Aap ki bhatiji ne kaam hi aisa kiya hai" Agastya told her.

By this time all of them had gathered in the hall except Giriraj and Daima who was unwell. Manyata clutched on to Uday's arm firmly. This made Agastya see more red.

"Kya kiya isne?" Mona maasi shot an angry look at Manveer.

"Poochiye isse, yeh apne fianc ko akela chodkar kisi doosre aadmi ke saath kyon chali gayi…? Manyata tum abhi isi waqt humare saath Mumbai wapas jaa rahi ho…get it…we are going back" Agastya said stressing every word of the last sentence.

Before Manyata could say anything Mona started her own tirade. "Besharam, bewakoof ladki, tujhe kuch zyada hi choot de di maine, tu Mumbai wapas chal, main tujhe batati hoon…saari akal thikane aayegi teri chal!" Mona tried dragging Manyata but was stopped by Uday's grip on Manyata's hand.

"ae ladke, chod isko, yeh humare ghar ka maamla hai, tujhe taang adane ki zaroorat nahi" Mona said to Uday.

"Jee nahi, yeh aap ka nahi mere ghar ka maamla hai, Manyata Mumbai wapas nahi jaayegi" Uday told to Mona.

"yeh faisla lene wale tum koun hote ho? Iski zindagi ka faisla sirf main le sakti hoon, koi aur nahi.. aur tu chal jaake bag tayyar kar apna" Mona said.

"Yeh mera honewala pati hai Mona maasi, maine hi ise apni zindagi ki faisle lene ka haq diya hai aur main kyon jaoon Mumbai, im not going anywhere" Manyata replied without an hint of fear in her voice. Mona was surprised at the new changed Manyata. The old Manyata would not dare to raise her voice infront of her and now see the difference!

"Wow! Itni jaldi party badaldi tumne Manyata? Par afsos tumhara honewala pati woh nahi main hoon, yeh aadmi jaan se jaayega agar isne mujhse panga liya toh" Agastya said raising a finger towards Uday.

Mona raised her hand to slap Manyata but Uday held her hand back. He pried Manyata's hand from Mona's and stood in front of Manyata to protect her.

Agastya charged at Uday suddenly trying to overthrow him. Uday was prepared before hand and Agastya fell on the sofa. "Uday!!" Manyata screamed.

Agastya recovered himself and tried delievering a hardblow on Uday's face. Uday was no less and he kicked Agastya hard. It was an uneven fight because Agastya was already weak from injuries he had sustained from beatings received from the villagers. Seeing two men engrossed in the fight Mona dragged Manyata and managed to drag her till Mona's own room. She pushed Manyata inside and locked the room. "jab tak main na kahoon tab tak tu isi kamre me band rahegi, samjhi" Mona warned her.

Aninditha held a picture in her hands and spoke to it in a childish voice. "mela hottie, mela cutie…my sweetie pie…tum bohot jald mere paas aaoge…aur phir hum khoob maze karenge.."

It was a picture of Uday she had secretly clicked while in college. She placed the picture on the table and brought a bottle of red wine from the freezer. She took two glasses and poured the wine in them. Aninditha placed one glass near the picture and drank from the other. "Uday, tum bhi piyona" She told the picture.

There was a knife in the fruit basket kept on the table. Aninditha picked it up and ran her thumb on it. Blood oozed from her thumb. She raised her hand and showed it to 'Uday'. "Dekho Uday, maine tumhare liye apna khoon tak baha diya…ab toh tum mujhse shaadi karoge na" she said making a puppy face. A little drop of blood fell on the picture as well and Aninditha touched it from her other hand. She daubed it on her own forehead and exclaimed "dekho Uday, humari shaadi ho gayi, humari shaadi ho gayi! Ab tum sirf mere ho..mine!" she threw her head back in laughter.

Aninditha had rented a cottage in garhwal so that she could keep an eye on things going on at the ranch. Too much envy and too many sinister plottings had made her mind rot turning her into a maniac. She had a split personality disorder according to the doctors her parents had taken her to. They had even admitted her to a mental asylum but she managed to bribe her captors and elope.

The two men were still fighting when Giriraj returned. They didn't notice him and Uday was about to break a glass bottle on Agastya's head when giriraj said "yeh kya ho raha hai?"

"baba, yeh aadmi humari Pari ko zabardasti Mumbai le jaana chahta tha" Uday replied.

"Pari..hmm woh meri Manyata hai sirf meri," Agastya said angrily. One side of his face was swollen and blood flowed from right side of his mouth. His clothes were torn too.

"Bas, bohot ho gaya…Agastya main tumse haath jodke binati karta hoon, bhool jao meri beti ko…woh tumse shaadi nahi karegi" Giri said to Agastya.

"Chup kar buddhe! Agastya ko jo chahiye woh haasil karke rehta hai, chahe kuch bhi ho jaaye..Manyata agar meri nahi hui toh kisi ki nahi hogi"Agastya insulted giri prompting Uday to give a hard one on his already swollen face.

"Ek ek ko bhi dekhlunga, chodunga nahi kisi ko bhi" Agastya said and stormed out of the house.

Manyata banged on the door loudly and Uday opened the door ignoring Mona. A relieved Manyata collapsed in Uday's arms. Mona got in and closed the door muttering some profanity.

That night hardly anyone could sleep. Even the diary which was the only solace in life to Manyata (besides Uday of course) failed to uplift the gloom. Looked like Komal forgot to be happy after Mona arrived at her home because after September all she had written was about the quarrels she and giri had had.

The next morning Mona didn't come to break fast and the othes ate in silence. Then Uday's cell let out a ring breaking the silence. It was one of their business clients calling Uday for a meeting. Uday tried refusing; even offering to postpone the meeting but the client wouldn't budge. Atlast on Manyata's insistence Uday agreed.

After the breakfast Uday got ready to leave and Manyata came up to the doorway to bid him good bye. As he had moved a few steps Manyata had a strange sense of foreboding like something was wrong somewhere. She couldn't put her finger on it but her woman's intuition told her something was up. 'Anyways no need of stalling Uday, let him finish the meeting and get back home' she thought.

Uday hadn't told Manyata about this but he felt strange thinking about the clients demand. The client insisted on meeting Uday in a near by open ground on a cliff top. Uday reached the place and parked the car. He could see no one there. 'may be the client is late' he thought. Suddenly he felt the stark coldness of the revolver on his temple.

Manyata wasn't anywhere to be seen. There was a paper ruffling on the table. He picked up and saw someone had written a poem in chaste Hindi. The note read:

"Suraj ke chote se ashiyane me band hai apsara,

Ghadi ke doh(2) kaanton ke milne ke poorv, agar

Nahi mila kiran ko suraj ka sahaara,

Bahegi lahu ki dhara,

Palke moonde aasman me sammilit ho jaayegi apsara"

A stray thought came to Uday's mind. There was a classmate in college who had told him she wanted to change her name to Kiran to match Uday's name. Uday couldn't remember her real name. 'This is not the time for useless memories Uday…you have to find Manyata first, if this is some kind of a clue you have to crack it quickly' he thought.
