Chapter 3

"Kya!" Jay asked getting really surprised by manyata's answer.

"Haan! Uncle brij ne kaha hain ki tu yeh shaadi tod nahi sakti hai na? Per unho ne yeh toh nehi kaha na ki Uday is shaadi ko tod nehi sakta? To ab yeh shaadi udayveer hi todega aur woh bhi bina tujh per koi blame lagaye. Ab bas mujhe ye uss Udayveer Sing ko convince karna padega. Mujhe nehi lagta ki woh asani se manega, shakal se hi geda dikhta hain. Par main bhi Manyata Kapoor hun. Achche achcho ki class le chuki hu. To phir yeh Udayveer Sing kya cheese hain? Ab toh main usse is shaadi ko todne ke liye manwa kar rahungi haan nehi toh!" Manyata said crossing her arms and holding her head high.

Jay : "Per Manyata agar dad ko..."

Manyata : "Usse nehi pata chalega. Relax."

Jay : "Per tu yeh sab Dad se chupa kar karegi kaise?"

Manyata : "Woh bas tu mujh per chor de. Aur tujhe pata hai kya? Agar tu Jagat se nehi bhi pyaar karti na tabbhi bhi main tere shaadi uss udayveer se nehi hone deti. This Udayveer sing is a big jerk."

"Kya! Per tu aisa kaise uski bade main bol sakti hain? Tu to baas usse abhi hi mili na? Teri toh uski saath thik tarah se baat bhi nehi hui hain. Pher tujhe kaise pata chala ki woh kaisa hain?" Jaynandini asked getting really confused as well as surprised.

"Baas mujhe pata hain. Uff Jay, tu sawal bahut puchti hain. Chal ab niche chalte hain. Mujhe us Udayveer Sing ki class bhi to leni hain!" Manyata said with an evil grin which made Jay giggle.

"You always manage to make me feel better" Jay now said getting all teary eyed "Pata nahi ki agar tu nehi hoti to mera kya hota."

"Oye Miss drama queen, ab itna senti hona band kar de aur chaal mere saath niche." Manyata said with an exasperated expression in order to lighten up Jay's mood which as usual worked.

Jay laughed at her antics and said, "Thik hain. Chal."

When they entered into the living room Komal smiled at them and asked "Hogaya aap dono ki baatein?"

"Jee Aunty Komal." Manyata replied politely and then turned to Uday and smiled at him sweetly."

"Haan to phir Uday ab jab ki aap humhari family ka ek hissa banne jaa rahe hai toh main chahti hu ki main apko aur bhi kareeb se janu. Mera maatlab hain aab tak to aapko pata chal hi gaya hoga ki main aur Jay kitni close hain. To main janna chah ti hu ki akher kiss kisam ki insaan se woh shaadi karne jaa rahi hain. I mean aise hi thodi na main kisi se bhi apni pyaari si behna ki shaadi hone de sakti hu. Akher mujhe bhi toh pata chale ki meri hone wale jijaji hain kaisa." She said in a joking matter while she kept smiling hugely. "Toh kya main aapse akele main baat kar sakti huun please?" She asked smiling sweetly at Uday making a puppy face.

Uday was about to answer in the affirmative while Brij raj interrupted. He and Komal were watching the whole jiju-saali interaction with high interest and amusement not doubting a thing! Knowing Manuata's relation with Jay they were actually expecting Manyata to do somethimg like that since it was only natural for her to get curious about Jay's life partner. In fact they were really happy that Manyata was already so at ease with Uday."

"Uday beta, ab tumhara exam ki waqt agaya hain. Per tum ghabrana nehi. Humhari yeh betiya hain to thori pagal per dil ka bahut saaf hain. Tumhe jyada pareshaan nehi karegi." Brij joked while he looked at manyata with affection, his eyes glazing with the pride she had for manyata which was well noticed by Uday.

"Uncle aap tension maat lijiye. Ghabrana aur darna jaise shabd Udayveer Sing ki dictionary main hain hi nehi." He said with the same stupid arrogant attitude and manyata with a lot of difficulty kept herself from rolling her eyes.

But of course Brij was highly impressed by his attitude and said "Yeh hui na baat! I really like your spirit beta." And this time Manyata just couldn't help rolling her eyes but thankfully no one noticed. Or so she thought..

Uday gave a polite nod to Brij's compliment and said "Thanks Uncle." And then asked manyata "Okay to kab baat karna chahti ho tum?"

Manyata : "Abhi! Mera matlab shuv kaam main der kaisi?" And then added quickly "Agar aap ko koi problem nehi ho toh."

Uday : "Nehi mujhe koi problem nehi hain. To kaha jana chahti ho tum baat karne ke liye?"

Manyata : "Kahi bhi. Baas yeh log waha nehi hona chahiye aapko meri attack se bachaneke liye." She said again pretending that she was only joking but in her mind she was saying "Tu baas chal mere saath bachchu. Aaj to tera khyer nehi."

Uday : "Theek hain to phir chalo."

"Chaliye" Manyata said and was about to leave with Uday when she turned back to her aunt and uncle and asked "I hope you don't mind that I'm stealing him?"

"Go ahead beta. Yeh to aap ka haq hain. Baas apna hone wala jiju ko jyada parishaan mat karna." Komal joked smiling.

"Theek hain nehi karungi ab hum chalte hain." Manyata told them and left with Uday.

...

"Toh ab hum kaha jaa rahe hain" Manyata asked Uday in a plain voice as soon as they were in the parking lot getting back into her real self.

Uday who wasn't obviously surprised by this changed attitude of her towards him also answered in a straight voice. "In my office."

"Alright. Let's go."

They drove their car to Uday's office. After they parked their car Uday lead Manyata to his office. When they entered to his office all the women who saw Manyata with Uday stared enviously at her and was sending daggers to her through their eyes.

"Wow ladies no need to feel jealous. Main thodi na yaha pe iss khadoos ko tumlogo se chinne ayi hu! Baalki main to yaha tum logo ka raasta aur bhi clear karne ayi hu!" Manyata said inwardly smiling a little and then she thought, "Waise iski bare me meri rai ekdum sahi nikli. Yeh ghatya aur kamina hain yeh to maine use pehli nazar parti hi samajh gayi thi per itna gira hua! Pura office ki saari ladkiyose flirt kadta feedta hoga tabhi mujhe iski saath dekh kar sabhi ladkiyon ki hawa nikaal gayi. Cheee. Kaisa aadmi hai yeh? Apni office staffs ko bhi nehi chorta. Isse toh no. 1 playboy ki khitaab milne chahiye tha. Uncle brij bhi na! Thodi to background check kar liya hota! Aise hi karwana chala tha Jay ki shaadi is Kaminey se. Thanks God ki main yaha thi Jay ke liye. Vaarna uski to puri jindegi hi barbaad ho jati thi."

While Manyata was thinking all this Uday led her to his cabin. After entering his cabin he offered Manyata a chair to sit down and after she did so he also sat down on his chair to her opposite.

For a moment they just sat there gazing intensely into each other's eyes as if they were challenging each other through their eyes. Both of their eyes were narrowed at each other while they kept fighting through their eyes without uttering a single word. Finally Uday broke the silence.

"Now shoot." Uday said steadily without breaking the eye-contact or rather correctly eye-fight.

"You can't marry Jay." Manyata announced confidently without breaking the eye-contact either.

Uday's expression didn't change a bit nor did he remove his gaze from her. He just calmly asked "Why?"

This time Manyata was a bit taken aback by his behavior. She expected him to show atleast some kind of emotion even a bit. But he didn't. But she was also manyata so she didn't show any emotion on her face either and regaining control again replied with full confidence while she challenged him through her eyes. "Because she loves someone else."

"To?" Uday asked again without any change of expression.

This time manyata couldn't take it anymore and got really mad. "To tu yeh shaadi tod dega!"

"Main aisa kyun karunga?" Uday asked remaining totally calm not at all bothered by manyata's outburst and manyata got even more mad by it.

"Tujhe sunai nehi deta hain kya? Woh kisi aur se pyaar karta hain!"

"To? Yeh to uski problem hain meri nehi."

This time manyata yelled at him loudly "She is being forced into this marriage!"

"To yeh bhi usika problem hai. Mai isme kya karu aur kyun karu?" he said arrogantly.

"Are you even human" Manyata yelled.

"Are you blind?" replied Uday remaining totally cool

"You know what? I was right about you. You are a jerk. A big jerk."

"Oh. I'm flattered. Thanks for the compliment." Uday mocked.

"That's it!!!" Manyata stood up from the chair grabbed the collar of Uday's shirt and shouted, "Eh Uday ke bachche, gowar kahike, khasmanukhane, thadak ke peepe mere baat dhyan se sunle. Tu yeh shaadi todega aur phir puri zimmideri apni sar par lega aur phir Jay ki zindegi se humesha humesha ke liye chala jayega badna main tera chote chote, chote chote tukre kar ke kutto ko khila dungi haan nehi toh!"

"Oh really? I'd really love to see that." Uday said sarcastically again not even a bit moved by her temper tantrum and manyata felt like banging her head no no his head on the wall! She didn't at all expect him to behave like this. If it'd have been any other guy who knew Manyata or her reputation, by this time they'd have already started running in the opposite direction. But this Uday!

It was as if she was talking to an wall and she became so frustrated and so much more angry that her face became even redder than chilies and she was opening her mouth to yell at Uday even more when uday suddenly put his one hand on her mouth and with the other hand pulled her close to him tightely holding her waist said gazing deeply into her eyes - "Hush! Ekdam chup!"

Manyata's breath get caught as uday was so dangerously close to her. In fact he was so close that she could feel his breath. Never before had she let any man come so close to her. Her temper fired up even more and she started struggling to break free but it only made uday tighten his hold on her. "Ab tum mera baat suno Miss haan nehi toh, Tumhe lagta hain ki tum mujhe aise order kar sakti ho, mujhe? Aur tumhe saach main yeh lagta hain ki tum mujhe, Udayveer Sing ko koi luksaan pocha sakti ho?" He then laughed out loudly. "Grow up baby. It's Udayveer Sing you are talking about. Kya tumhe andaza bhi hain ki main kitna powerful hoon? Agar main chah ti hu to tumhara behn ki saath kuch bhi kar saakta hu, kuch bhi aur tum mera kuch nehi bigaar paogi. In fact main to kisi ke bhi saat kuch bhi kar sakta hu per mujhe luksaan pahuchaane wale aaj taak iss duniya main peyda hi nehi hua phir tum kya cheese ho? Arey tum toh meri samne ek chetti (ant) ke bhi barabaar nehi hon. Main Udayveer sing hu, Udayveer Sing. Arey tum to kya, agar tumhare jaisa 100 manyata bhi ek hojaye na phir bhi mera kuch nehi bigaad sakta."

Manyata was now shaking with anger and pushed him away with her full force. Uday just gave her a smirk and told "Per ha. Agar tum apni cousin ke liye itne hi concerned ho to phir main tumhe ek mauka de sakta hu. Main woh karne ke liye tayaar hu jo tum chahte ho per ek shart pe."

"Aur woh kya hai?" Manyata asked still shaking with anger but somehow also becoming a bit hopeful as she was ready to do anything for Jay.

Uday smiled an evil smile. "Main Jay ki saath apna yeh shaadi tod dungi. Per phir uske badle main tumhe mujhse shaadi karni padegi."
