That incident had stolen my childhood, it had taken away the sweet dreams my sleep used to bring and replaced them with nightmares of my past, present and future. It had taken the pure laugh of my childish face and replaced it with a fake one that could possibly charm anyone who dares to take a single glance at it.
Most of all it had stolen my father from me…
I looked in the hallow eyes of my mother seeing neither the warmth nor the love they possessed earlier and thought what was coming next as we walked in to the large hall of our newly brought house, house I call it as there was no family to make it a home.
My mother said nothing only gripped my hand a little tighter and kept walking. She said we would see someone here, someone who would change our future, but there in the empty welcoming hall there was nothing but a mirror that gleamed in the morning sun. I looked at her curiously.
"Where is the person you told me about?" I asked her, she looked forward at the mirror and said "there she is"
I stepped in looking in to the mirror, I couldn't see anyone in there, just my reflection a girl merely ten years of age, pale and tall with dark circles under her brown eyes due to the sleepless nights I couldn't see how this was going to help us. I looked at her again, unable to understand a thing and she put a hand on my shoulder.
"You know what happened at the palace don't you flower?" She asked me looking in to my eyes as I winced in the pain of that memory.
Of cause I did. My father the head of royal security was accused that he kidnapped their princess Manyata all those years ago. Even now when I close my eyes I could see them dragging him away from me and mama kicking and punching him as they went. They had shown him no mercy, he died at the police and they came for me. Saying that I could be their princess. That's why I was here mama had to keep me away from them. She didn't want to lose me as she lost my father.
"They killed him" Mama crocked wiping her eyes with the back of her hand, "And now, we won't let them walk free"
"But why mama? Why did they kill him?"
"He knew something about the royal family that they did not wanted the others to know" She said quietly,
"What was it mama?"
"That's what you're going to find out flower"
"But how mama?"
"Why princess Manyata will help us won't she?" My mother asked indicating my reflection and then I understood what she was talking about. That day in the empty welcoming hall of our house I said good bye to myself, from that day onwards I was Manyata, princess Manyata for who they would die happily.
And the next ten year passed on with an eye blink while I learned what it was to become a true royal.
***
The projector was working continuously showing a photograph after a photograph as mama told me all about the royals, the culprits of my father's murder and their closer friends.
"Mr. Rajath Verma" My mother said as a photograph made its appearance, "He was the next chief in royal security after your father, and our first target"
"Why is that?" My sixteen year old self asked,
"He although retired as connections to the royal family yet there for he's the first who could take the news that princess Manyata is alive"
I smirked at the man's photo, "So?"
"Akash Verma his son" I raised my eyebrows "Oh I see, a very eligible bachelor" I said sarcastically.
"He's eight years older than you" Mama said nodding, "That means by the time we execute the plane he'll be twenty eight"

"When you dance make it smooth and graceful" mama said holing my hand and stepping to the music. "Now as we dance" She said as we both fall slowly in to the dance, "Tell me about the devgar royals"
"Rajmata Mirnalini devi is the head of the family, She sees the unseen, hears the unheard and feels the unfelt, she's the one I have to be careful about"
We took a twist, "good" nodded mama, "And?"
"She has a son and a daughter, brijraj who's my father" I said nodding, "An ambitious man with little brain and a lot of arrogance and prejudice summed up with bravery and courage"
"Hmm"
"His wife, queen" I amended myself, "Komal, my mother, she's sensitive, easily touched and loving, she could be the first ally of mine"
"Nice" mama smirked "and?"
"Jay, my sister princess Jaynandini the one we saw at the club earlier, she's the black sheep of the family and has eyes on my fiance"
"Then we move on to the jaygar royals"
I smirked to myself knowing that I had accomplished the first stage of our game rules,
"My fiance yuvraj Udayveer," I said giggling at the memory of him and Jay at the club, "He thinks of himself as a god among mortals, need I say more? He's arrogant, devilishly handsome and has the upper hand on everything including girls"
"and that reminds me" Mama said as we finished the dance and fell on to the coach panting, "How was your date with Akash?"
At this I could no longer control myself and I burst out giggling, "Poor fellow" I said, "He thinks he made a poor slum girls life a happy place"
"Shhh" Mama said looking around, "Don't let anyone hear you, and your friends, who are they ah yeah, Sony and Chikki what about them?"
"Poor girls" I muttered under my breath. "They try ever so heard to make me realize I'm in love with their Sallu"
"Should I congratulate you on splashing soap water on Jay and gaining their attention?"
"No, congratulate me on scratching yuvraj Udayveers's arm and making history" Mama watched me open mouthed, "What?" She exclaimed,
"I didn't know, I would meet him there, and he made me boil so no complains"
"Be careful, we don't want him suspecting do we?"
"I see" I said sighing, "He's on be careful list is he?"
"He's until you become the princess his princess"
"And he dances to my tunes" I said standing up, "They'll have to pay mama and I'll make sure they will"
So,
what do you think? Good? Boring? Suspicious?
