Part 2

Manyatha cracked skulls with Uday; it was painful, on both sides. The moment Uday got distracted; she slipped out from underneath him and stood up. Uday stumbled up onto his feet, his face still hidden in the dark. She flipped out her knife, and stuck it out in front of her, "Come any closer and you'll regret it". She warned. "Isn't that what all the filmy heroines say before the villain kidnaps her?" the driver shouted laughing. Uday leapt towards her, Manyatha dodged to the right and stuck out her knife hand so it sliced Udays arm. Uday was no less; he spun around and tripped her as she tried to run past him. She fell right into his arms, and that was that, Uday put his arm around her neck, "Throw the Chloro!" he shouted to Vijay. A small bottle flew through the air towards Uday, who caught easily with one hand. On the other hand, Manyatha was crazily waving her knife in the air, and she noticed with some satisfaction that she was getting him. She felt him twitch each time her knife made contact with his skin. The satisfaction didn't last long, a strange smell wafted up her nose, little black stars appeared before her vision, and then the world turned black.

Uday bent down beside the girl, he squinted at her, there was something wrong with her neck, Uday reached out to see what it was but Vijay interrupted him, "It feels like we're trying to kidnap a Junglee Bili instead of a girl" a thoughtful expression on his face. Uday nodded, "But she is equivalent to one" he muttered.

"255 MEN! ONLY TWO COME BACK! AND THAT TOO, WITHOUT THE PRINCESS!" his uncle roared in disbelief. "But the hostage knows where the princess is" Uday answered. "I wouldn't care if she knew the portal to Narnia, I wanted the Princess, and it always happens that when ever I put you in charge I never get her!" His uncle hissed in his face. "No more action for you! You're going to stay back from now on and help around the camp, you set foot out of our campsite and I'll have your head" his Uncle spat. Uday glared at his Uncle, "Do what you want, but without my help, you'll never know where the Princess is!" Uday muttered. "Oh and why do you say that? Did the hostage tell you?" the sarcasm evident in his voice. Uday got up and turned to leave, "What now? You chickened out!" his uncle shouted after him. Uday ignored him and walked out. Vijay stood outside waiting for him, "That wasn't very nice," he muttered. "Well, he's not very nice" Uday growled and stalked towards the girl's tent.

Her head was aching, her stomach growled like a bear, and her vision was almost permanently blurred. After gaining conscious, things did not go well for her. She sat up against a wooden pole that held up the middle of the tent. "Oooh, look we haven't had a girl visit us for ages!", Manyathas eyes narrowed down at the entrance of the tent, four blurry figures advanced towards her. She stood up, "Oooh, look I haven't beaten up someone in ages!" she spat. The men let out slow chuckles and surrounded her, "It'd be best if you don't mess with us darling" one of the men pinched her arm. She jumped, another man pinched her back, she let out a yelp. "Back off!" a voice barked from the entrance. "But-" the men began to whine. "No. She's mine," the person growled. Manyathas blurred eyes widened, that was Udayveer. The men left, she was all alone with him. He casually strolled over towards her, Manyatha backed away, "Keep your distance, if you want to keep a limb," she hissed. He chuckled at her hostility, and moved closer ignoring her threats. Manyatha turned around to run, but he was faster, Uday grabbed her arm and pulled her back, she was up against his chest. Her eyes widened, she tried to get away but he wouldn't let go. Uday had his arm around her waist; he was wearing an amused smile as he watched the girl struggle. "What do you want?!" she hissed. "Nothing" he replied. Manyatha stopped squirming, "Nothing?" she sounded confused. Uday smirked and ran a finger down the side of her face, "Mmhm" he murmured. Manyatha was totally lost, what was up with this guy? His finger continued down her face, until it got to her neck. Manyatha stiffened; he rubbed the place where her birthmark was, his arm seemed to loosen, and Manyatha jumped away from him. She rubbed her eyes, they seemed to get a little bit better, and she squinted at Uday, again all she could make out was his smile…more like devious smirk. "I knew it! Concealer, the oldest trick in the book!" he chuckled. "Now you know! What are you going to do shoot me? Tell your other rebel friends?" she snapped. Uday pulled something out of his pocket, "No" he said plainly. This left her dumbfounded, "Huh?". Uday walked towards the exit without answering her, "Why?" she went after him. Uday stopped, he threw a small plastic box over his shoulder, and she caught it. "Use it" he muttered and left. Manyatha looked down at the plastic box in her hands; she rubbed her eyes a bit more, and squinted at the box, now she could see clearly. It was Concealer, which matched her skin tone perfectly.

She monitored the guards that were positioned outside her tent, so far, she had learnt all the rebel gossip, and when they changed shifts. The sun had just set, and the moon was slowly rising, the guards had just left. She poked her head out of the tent; her vision was now fine, she looked around, no rebel in sight. She tiptoed out the tent and quietly made her way towards an exit. She swiveled her head back and forth checking if anyone had seen her, someone had. One of the guards had forgotten his bag by the tent, he had been walking back to get it when he had seen her. "STOP! RED ALERT!" the guard roared. Manyatha shot off like a rocket; she zoomed in between tents with a whole mob of rebels behind her. She was going in circles, Manyatha stopped to catch her breath she looked around, the sounds of approaching rebels got louder, now the whole camp was behind her. Without thinking she ran into a tent, quickly spinning around she zipped up the entrance, "Phew" she let out some air as the rebels stormed past her. She turned around, "What are you doing here?" he hissed at her. Manyatha, for once, could see his face. Uday had a perfectly chiseled face, with eyes so dark you would swear they were black, he was shirtless, and sitting with a paste in his hand rubbing it on wounds all over his body. Manyatha smirked with pride, the wounds that she'd given him. "What the hell are you doing here? How'd you escape!" he shouted louder this time. Manyatha snapped out of her thoughts, "Look, keep your mouth shut, if the others catch me I'm dead meat!" she snapped. Udays lips curved up into a devious smirk, "Well, that's exactly what I want" he said grabbing her arm. Manyatha yanked her arm back, "What is your problem, what did I ever do to you?" she said with frustration. Uday put down the paste and wiped his hands on a random cloth, "You are Yuvrani Manyatha Kumari, enemies of the rebel, but my biggest enemy of all," he explained calmly. Manyatha was still confused; she had studied up on the rebels she knew everything to know about the rebels, then who was this person? His name was Uday…Udayveer… "Udayveer Shah" she whispered amazed. Uday smirked, "Son of the Great Rebel Leader, Janardhan Shah" he finished for her. Manyatha glared at him, "Your father-", "Killed your family, and started a war against royals because he was brave, and his last wishes were to have the princess publicly executed, which I will be doing" he interrupted. Manyatha balled up her fists, "What?! Brave!? Maybe in some other world! Mr. Shah, your father was a lying, scheming criminal!" she shouted in rage. Uday hated hearing anything against his dad, "Him a criminal, obviously you think that you stuck up, snobby, selfish Royal" he hissed. "If you want me dead, why you don't call your followers and have me killed" she shouted back. "They'd shoot you right away! And I want you to go with my fathers wishes and be publicly executed" he replied. Manyatha spun around and began unzipping the tent, "I'd rather be shot to death, then be hanged by a bunch of idiotic criminals" she hissed. Uday stopped her hand and pulled her back onto his cot, just as a crazy group of rebels ran past the entrance. "Nice try Princess, but you aren't going to get free that easily" he was on top of her holding her down, one hand on her mouth, and the other pinning own her right arm. She squirmed, tried to kick him, bite him, but Uday was like rock. She finally stopped, Manyatha was physically tired, she hadn't even eaten the food they'd brought for her. Uday moved his hand away from her mouth and pinned down her free arm. "Totally expected from a criminal like you" she spat. Udays hold tightened, "I've heard that word three times now, and I do not like it," he hissed. Manyatha glared at him, "Face the facts Udayveer, the so-called rebels 'Fighting for their country', are nothing but old criminals trying to usurp the countries wealth! Your Uncle murdered his whole family because he was angry that he wasn't served food on time, your uncles a criminal psychopath! And the Head of operations, your father was alleged for breaking into the Marble Palace, killing two guards and stealing two bags full of gold, he started the rebellions after he got out of jail, not for the countries good, but for his OWN selfish reasons" Manyatha shouted, she continued on, "The 'Cause' you've been fighting for is a crime! You've been kept in the dark Mr. Shah" she hissed. Uday couldn't bear it, "ENOUGH!" he barked. Uday squeezed her arms tighter, and brought himself down closer to her, he could feel her heart beating against his chest. Uday forced her too look in his eyes, little flames of hatred burned in them. He didn't say anything for a while, Uday was trying to keep his anger in check, but it wouldn't, he finally cracked, "You're-". "Udayveer! We need to check your tent! Someone shouted outside. Uday moved off her, Manyatha sat up and rubbed her arms, "Go" he hissed. Manyatha looked at him defiantly, "No". Uday glowered at her and shoved her off his cot. Manyatha fell onto the hard dirt floor. She was about to stand up when she heard the rebels enter and start to argue with Uday. Manyatha felt a cool breeze up against her back, she rolled to her side, there was an opening in the tent. Manyatha silently slipped out.

He leant over the bed, and was shocked to find that there was nothing there, "There's nothing there!" he said turning to the rebel. "Okay, sorry for disturbing you" the man muttered and left. Uday watched him leave, as soon as he was gone, Uday frantically started throwing his tent apart looking for her, she was nowhere to be seen. Uday ran out and joined the group of rebels hunting the hostage. He cursed himself for letting her go so easily.

Manyatha watched silently from the bushes behind Udayveer's tent, she laughed at their stupidity. Not once did they check around the camp, they kept looking in the same tents repeatedly. At one point Manyatha gave in to her exhaustion and fell asleep in the bush.
