As soon as she she cut the call he asked, " Tum kis se baat kar rahi thi? Aur yeh Udayveer singh kaun hai?tumhara boyfriend hai?
Manyata: tum hote kaun ho mujh se aisa sawaal karne waale? tumhari jaankari ke liye main batadeti hoon ki meri best friend ka phone tha, aur haan yeh Udayveer singh mera koi Boyfriend nahi hai, samjhe tum..
Guy: tumhari baton se toh lagta hai yeh aadmi bohot ameer hai, bohot handsome hai, par tumhe woh achcha nahi lagta, (He deliberately said this to check her reaction)
Manyata: Hoga shayad maine kabhi usse nahi dekha, aur tum kyon uske baare me itna pooch rahe ho?aur tumhe kisne kaha main usse pasand nahi karti?
Guy: maine toh aise hi pooch liya, khair main tumhare saath itni der se hoon, mujhe khud tumhara naam nahi pata, batao naam kya hai tumhara?
Manyata: Rishtey me toh hum tumhare baap lagte hai, naam hai shehenshah, mera naam jaankar tum kya karoge?
Guy: theek hai abhi nahi bataana hai toh naa sahi, kabhi toh bataogi..
Manyata: Matlab kya hai tumhara?
Guy: oh matlabi ladki, jaana kahan hai tumhe? yeh toh batao?
Manyata: iski himmat toh dekho, pehle toh khud offer karta hai aur ab mujh par ilzam lagata hai..mujhe excel college jaana hai…
Guy: ok, chalo..
Very soon they reached Excel College or did it seem very soon to Manyata? She scolded herself in her mind, first of all hitching a ride with a totally unknown handsome stranger, then being actually attracted to him…no Manyata are you out of your mind?...
As soon as he parked the car infront of her college, she jumped down like a frightened rabbit, muttered a hurried 'thank you'..And ran inside. One reason for her running was obviously she was late, but more than that she wanted to hide from his piercing eyes which seemed like taser gun to her. She straightaway ran towards the green room where all her friends were waiting for her. There was only 15 minutes left for program to start and she was supposed to give welcome address for the chief guest. Her speech was ready but she wasn't. Those laser like eyes still seemed to haunt her. Unnati had to shake her twice to get her attention.
Unnati: Manyata, jab se aayi ho tab se dekh rahi hoon, tum badi khoyi khoyi si ho..kya hua? Kis ke khayalon me khoyi ho?
Manyata: Kya?sorry main kahin aur thi, tumne jo kaha maine suna nahi…
Unnati: ok, never mind. Lekin jaldi karo..
Manyata fixed her look in record time. And very soon the curtains were raised for the program. One of her friends signaled her to go on stage and start the program. Before going she looked at herself for one last time in the mirror. Everything was perfect. She had minimal make-up on. She was wearing her favorite blue color anarkali salwar. With her head raised in confidence she walked towards the stage with the written speech in her her hands, just in case. She knew once she started speaking on stage she wouldn't need any prompting, mainly because she was so proficient with words. The chief guest wasn't in sight yet. The liftwala guy was sitting in the first row first seat. "Tum mere peeche peeche yahaan bhi pohonch gaye" thought she. All her classmates were shamelessly ogling him. Don't why but she felt like telling them "stop eyeing him you idiots". She looked at the gathered audience once and started.
"aadarneeya shikshakgan, mere sehpatiyon, aur yahaan upastith sabhi vyaktyiyon ko main Manyata Kumari, iss karyakram me sahriday swagat karti hoon. Aaj humare college ko shuru hue poore pachchees saal poore hogaye..iss avsar par aaj ke mukhya aththi bankar padhare hai, Shree Udayveer singh,jo sheher ke ganya vyaktiyon me se ek hai. Main unse darkhast karoongi ki woh is manch par aakar sthan grihan kare.."
The audience gave a loud applause at this. Then the person in question stood up to go to the stage. Manyata felt the blood draining from her face when she saw who the guest was! "Oh my god this couldn't be happening! There must be something wrong ..she thought…then she saw him approaching the dias and there was no speck of doubt left. All this while she had been thinking about him, she felt like digging a hole in the ground and disappearing into it when she remembered how she had praised him in the car unknowingly…her mind went totally blank and she doesn't know what she said after that. She let her mind work on auto pilot. Somehow she finished welcome speech and ran back to the green room. She was the college topper and was supposed to receive the award from the chief guest. She felt so embarrassed she thought of going home immediately without informing anyone. But this was her college matter and she couldn't wash her hands off it. She decided to hide in the green room till her name was called on stage.

PS: yeh hindi ki speech meri didi Vibha ne likhi hai...kuch galati ho toh saari gaaliyan usse dena😉 i'll be updating the next part by this saturday...
