Chapter 5
Something cold touched my lash, and i glanced up to see snowdrops in the lightening ' frizzled sky. It was eerily dangerous and similar to the hunter like reporters hounding me for more lowdowns on the night's disastrous events, their microphones covered with polystyrene to protect their precious information from the hands of the angered lightening beams and the feathered rain.
Shouting sounded behind me ' the Royal Guards surrounded me pushing at the reporter whose faces and eyes reeked of desire for more. I pulled myself up and walked almost running upto Adda, a long gash raised down from his forehead blood spouting out covering his delicate but firm features. Royal blood feeding the street ' bending down i checked his pulse, once i confirmed it was throbbing under my fingers i gestured to the guards. Whose riffles slung uneasily over their shoulder dressed in black they blended sleekly into the night: eyes scanning the starved audience.
Somewhere far in the distance i thanked the distant star who had sent this protection!
Tears filled my eyes and yanked themselves loose from within me, my Adda lay across the pavement eyes closed ' breathing gradually. His pulse slowly died away closing him away and pulling life from his grasp.
I breathed his name in desperation trying to invoke some life into him. His eyes flickered to mine. Conflicted and hurt, he moved his lips but it was a few tries before anything came out.
"Manyata, Manyata" He looked up at the moon and then back at me clearly having come to a decision.
"Beta, promise me that you will take care of your mother and your younger siblings, they are the only treasure i have left to give you. They will need you my daughter! They will always need you and you alone, protect them as if they were your own soul and heart, take my place and don't make my mistakes. I'm so sorry my daughter that i cannot be with you."
As we sat there the snow filing in around us, we were the only two who existed, i saw the life from his heart and spirit bleed out but i kept on rocking his head my salty tears dripping one by one on to his leathery cheek.
"Life doesn't wait for anyone my daughter, your choices are what define you and you can only dare to be as big as you dream. Change your future by making the right decisions today. I know that you will carry my family and my empire forward with grace and independency." His breath hitched and he wheezed coughing up blood. I stroked his face soothingly
"Adda the ambulance is coming, please stay with me ' don't leave me." I paused, tears blurring my vision "I'm scared! Don't go"
He closed his eyes and whispered so softly that the howling wind carried it forth and into my ears
"Acclaim what is yours my daughter. Remember I will always be-" He reached up and touched my heart "in here."
The Ambulance turned the corner, horns blaring and came to a standstill in front of the parting crowd maybe just maybe too late!

01:00 clock AM
Manyata fell into the plush hospital chair; the doctors had been in and out continuously informing her on Adda's health but it was useless, they couldn't get him back together. The doors to the VIP room were sectioned off so i sat alone pondering over how i was going to make this all right. And i would, till my last breath i promised i would!
The doors clanged close with a bang and i looked up ' Jay, Vijay and Ma stood their faces tear streaked and pain stricken.
There was a moment of utter silence and then all three threw themselves at me in a hug, i don't know how long we stood there crying, the pain circled around us like a whirlwind ' their was soo much pain in this little room it could power a whole neighbourhood with electricity.
"Papa, He'll be okay nah Jiji?" Jay cupped my face in her hands and stared into my eyes, i hadn't the energy to reply.
"Jiji Humare Taraf Dekho, Papa Teek tho ho jayye gai nah?" She shook me but my soul had seized to exist, i was a hard loin shell. "I can't live without him Jiji, Voh Humare liya sabse upar hai"
Ma gently disentangled Jay from me. I was barely holding this in i was neat bundle of troubles that was a small tare away from a major breakdown.
The Doctor approached from the far right door, his face a perfect picture of distant politeness, his tassels flapped behind him and he shook my hand already aware that i was the one who was in charge.
"Miss Singhania?"
"Yes that's me, how is he now?"
The doctor's face looked grave but not sad a distant hope shone in me.
"He a little better than last time, if you had been any later ' we might not have been any help to him. At the moment we have him on life support machine; it is the only means keeping him alive however..."
Vijay let out tear full choke and fell into Jay leaning on her for support, he wasn't the only one looking broken and destroyed Jay eyes were red and she was bawling. Fear formed in me ' She wouldn't faint would she? Ma's expression was the hardest to decipher ' there were tears falling from her eyes but no life existed within her, she was a there but her mind was a thousand miles away.
"I suggest Miss Saksena that you come with me to my office and i shall continue there, your siblings are maybe not strong enough to hear what I'm about to tell you"
I nodded silently following him down the sterile bleached hallways, bile rose up in the back of my throat and i swallowed noisily.
"Go on doctor, what do you have to say?"
"Miss Singhania, when your uncle was brought into the hospital, he was in a dire situation not only had he lost a considerably large amount of blood but the fight had gone out of him. Usually patients fight the haze that befalls onto them but your uncle gave up even before he started. It seems there was a lot of emotional and mental trauma linked to this.
Right now he's in a sleep induced coma but the hardest news i believe is that we may never know when he awakes ' it could be 2 days, or 2 month or even 20 years later. There is simply no telling."
The doctor looked troubled as if he had realised maybe he's said a little too much.
"I'm sorry Miss Singhania. Believe my condolences are with you and we as doctors will give all we have to bring him back to you but any advice i can offer s that stay strong and when he returns, he'll know what a good thing he did buy leaving his most precious things in your hands."
The room felt suffocating, running out i took some wild turns and ended up in front of the girl's bathroom.
Splashing cold water on my face was a welcome relief the coldness kicked my sleepy brain into action ' my silent pores shivered with alertness as the coldness seeped in and awakened me. They wanted to play like this then i would play' They believed we couldn't touch them let alone destroy them, then I'd give them a challenge. I'd break each and everyone of their misconceptions.
I had to do something, anything at least.
I strolled into the VIP waiting are. Jay and Vijay were laying on the chairs their faces serene and silent: sleeping. Ma stood looking out of the window, her face a mask of guilt and sadness, i didn't have time to babysit her ' A plan was forming inside me a crazy and impossible plan but the thirst for revenge would only be sated when i had accomplished my goal. Bitterness warred with my moral teachings. Eventually a decision was made!
Briskly checking my purse i pulled out of my phone speed dialling Abhiya's number:
"Maam, i heard over the news i would just like to-" He began but i cut him off, no time to waste.
"Abhiya i need you here immediately!" Abhiya response was quick, he was trying to pull out but I wasn't having any of it. "Be here in 5 minutes or be ready to resign from your 5 year job!"
Hanging up i flopped down onto the chair and tapped my fingers, developing and extending the plan until it had a beginning and an end. They didn't call me a business prodigy for no reason, from a very young age i had the ability to develop a full proof plan and not sit until it was done and dusted. The only little detail left to my plan was executing it.
Abhiya arrived 3 minutes later, his hair dishevelled and heavy bags under his eyes.
"Sorry Maam, I was at the company it seems the reporters are trying to break in. I was with the police all this time trying to control the situation. I didn't get come to show my condolences, it's unforgivable Maam. I'm sorry!"
Guilt sparked in me but it vanished just as quickly ' to win this battle i had to grow a backbone of steel.
I could do it, from now on my emotions were frosted, and they'd never show in front of anyone who could use them against me. Never!
"Abhiya, pull out your notebook, we have a long night and your not getting any rest from no on ' First find me a top notch hospital in Kolkata, and a comfortable house fit for 3 people, a 5minute walk from the hospital. You have 20 minutes when the clock reach 20 minutes past ' I need my Adda to have been admitted there and a travel agents number on your Iphone. Go! "
Abhiya scurried off and i could hear him on tapping away on his Ipad. Moving away into the deserted hallway i myself dialled a number that i had never thought once to rely on.
"Hello, What is it?" A gruff voice boomed down my ear, clearly annoyed. I smirked and raised an eyebrow.
"It's Manyata; i have a proposition for you Rickey"
"Don't want to hear it Princess" The voice was surprised but it was filled with raw energy.
"It's a beneficial deal Rickey; i could make your paper the biggest and most valuable in India within 10 minutes. I am after all a princess."
"Don't kid yourself Princess, your not all that, even that bitch Anvesha get more news space than you."
I laughed, it was prickly and sounded malicious even to me i could almost imagine Rickey flinching.
"You know that's a lie, if i wanted i could have every reporter falling over their feet begging for a story. I know you're secretly pleased. So cut the crap and hold back your bullshit, and do me a little favour."
"I'm Listening Princess! Go on"
I walked further down the hall explain explicitly what exactly was required of him.
I touched the glass, My Adda laid quietly on this hospital bed his chest slowly rising and falling in rhythm with heart monitor. The only thing keeping him attached to life, attached to me was a life support machine. Disgusting my brave, strong, wise Adda defeated by an old lady and her bitch of a daughter in law.
I promise you Adda that i would avenge you, n matter if the world stands against me ' I'll know that you were always by my side. I'll come back for you Adda, I'll come back when i take it all back ' and then no one will lift a finger upon you. I won't let them
I will bring them down even if i fall along with them! I won't give up.
The Guard walked in and gave her a folder. It was from Abhiya
"The man told me to give you this, he has gone to sign some documents requested by the doctor. "
I nodded until i saw his badge "Stop!"
"Your Badge, which Sector do you belong to?"
The Guard saluted and introduced himself: formally "I am Ryan Oberoi, Belonging to the Jaighar Sector and Yuvraaj Udayveer Singh's Personal Bodyguard. It is a pleasure to serve you Maam." He bowed and I stood aghast
"Uday sent you?"
"Yes Maam, we were given strict orders, to protect you as if we were protecting his Royal Highness. Your family were to be transported to the hospital safely and quickly. The press were to be controlled and held back. These were all under the orders of his Highness Yuvraaj Udayveer Singh"
The name struck a chord in me and i sighed regretfully. This couldn't go on ' i could owe him anything, if i were to begin to put this plan in motion. I would have to cut ties but before than it was only right that i did something for him.
"You have honoured me greatly, you're drive and swiftness, saved my Adda's life and i indebted to you. But i will order my Guards to come. So please return to Devghar tonight you cannot leave Yuvraaj unprotected like this, it could prove fatale." The Guard nodded his eyes glistened with tears of pride.
"Furthermore, give him a message from me: Tell him that i am indebted to him a life debt, tell him that i will give him one wish and whenever he needs me and whatever he needs me to do, i will do it gladly. This is my promise, a promise of a Princess ad a promise from a Daughter."
I pulled of my ring, it was one given to me by Adda, for my birthday each year he would add another crystal. It was my most prized possession.
"Give this to him, and tell him once his wish is fulfilled i will again take this from him but until then, it is his responsibility. Can you do that for me honoured saviour?"
The Guard nodded vigorously and bowed full length "Yes Princess. Your word is my command!"
I turned away and stared at my Adda lying in a hospital bed, the cables tangling from his body and grinned, my plan was already working and soon enough I would hear from Yuvraaj Udayveer. This would allow me to throw my next step into action!

I have been away for a long long time and i won't be surpirsed if you don't remeber me but it was all studying so pretty boring!!🤢
Moving on swiftly... This update was massively deprieved of Manveer but what can i do yaar i have to get the background done and dusted. In the next update - Maanveer, Maanveer and more Maanveer.
I know your probs pissd but save your chapels people, it's recession. You'll need the shoes and tamatar. 😆😉
