Great post, DC.
Lots of significance, symbolism, and food for future thought. And I too, loved the GULAB JAMUN scene.I felt Manyeta was treating Uday with affection and even Akash noticed it :) And yeah, I felt too that this Akash's good bye scene, so didn't mind too much of him today! Akash's words to 'Moniya' were significant too, asking her never to lose her innocence.. I really felt Akash was saying good bye permanently. I know he will be shown intermittently but Uday is no longer the Anti hero as he himself said...HE IS NOW THE TRUE HERO...
Hi there,
Thank you - glad I made some sense!😆
Yes, the gulab jamun scene was poignant even in passing. And, I completely agree regarding Akash's observation skills. Her demeanour was not lost to him. The way she pulled out her chair and the "excuse me," all of it was reflected in his slightly awkward and astonished expression. Even when DS, BR, and UV twisted words to deflate Akash, M seemed to hardly notice...
Regarding Akash's words to her-- well, I would comment on that, except that I totally pressed the "forward" button on that one!😳 Sorry, I just couldn't digest it.
In my opinion, UV was never the anti-hero, he has always been the central character of the show. Yes, he has dark qualities, but to counter that, he clearly has positive ones as well - his immense respect (although it did falter momentarily) for DS and the Devgarh elders (to a lesser extent); his honesty (especially with Jay - their mind games are not hidden to each other); and recently, his growing care and possessiveness (this may have potential) for Manyata. He has already (although fleetingly) mentioned that he has come to "love" Ms. Haan-Nahin-Toh, but I don't think he truly understood what this means. Only time will tell. In any case, UV is real. His emotions are real -- not majnu-like, if I may say so. Having said all this, I guess it depends on how one really defines "anti-hero." Okay, I think I'm edging myself towards confusion, so I'm going to leave it at that.
Thank you kindly for the comments!
Cheers,
