Since I have started this show, I can't figure out if I should like the character or hate him. Sometimes he is so charming and sweet with Moniya that you can't help but love him (and especially when he smiles at her)...but than again on other hand it all seems pretentious and than you are like ARGH! The thing is you don't even know when he is pretending and when he is not, which makes his character very complicated to comprehend.

With his sister he is so adorable, but otherwise he is evil...mean and it is quite evident from his lies to DS for his own benefits, trying to control Moniya, and his talks with Jay. From what I have come to understand, he is not a bad person but yes at this point in time...he is bad...grey-shaded, I mean, as in egoistic, mean, pretentious, and just living a double life yet caring towards the people he loves. He is not a complete prince who would go out and care for people, infact he is quite the opposite. He believes that the world revolves around him and hence I would like to use the word "self-centered" for him. He shows the world he cares but again it is all pretentious to me right now. He is definitely using Moniya for his own personal benefits (as in he is selfish) yet some of his feelings/care seem genuine to me. For example...yesterday when he took Moniya to the shooting, it seemed as though he was actually in the moment enjoying with her but the moment before that, it definitely seemed like a trap to me. And I think I might be the only person thinking it to be a trap or whatever. Hence, him being a complicated character. I feel like I just don't know him yet...as if there are so many more layers to his character which are yet to be revealed, yet to discover. And I am definitely looking forward for that.

My personal feelings towards Uday is quite positive but no connection yet. I want him to grow as a person and I am just looking forward to that. I just hope that SA does not skip that part and just show that he falls in love with Moniya and turns into a good guy. Obviously she would bring out the best in him, but I want his growth track to be parallel with Moniya becoming a princess track or maybe afterwards...but I want to see the actual "process". And by positive, I do not mean he should totally be like Aakash...no ways!! But I just want to see him realize the actual responsibilities of being a prince that he pretends he knows but know nothing at all and also see some soft corner in him towards Moniya and everyone else. Does that mean he should not make any mistakes? No. Does that mean he should cry all the time? No. But I just want to see who actually Uday is...and so far I am yet to see that.

Thoughts?

PS: Sorry if I confused anyone from this post...like I said I am confused myself in understanding complicated Uday right now...that maybe my thoughts got all jumbled 😛

I am sure there is...definitely! which is why I said that it feels like there are so many layers to him which I feel that are yet to be revealed. And I am for sure looking forward to that😳

And I think him being complicated is what engages me so much into his character...and makes me sit on the edge of my seat because he is unpredictable as well.

i feel your not giving udhay the credit he's due here. yeah he is mysterious, and yeah we get the hint that the dude is deadly when he needs to be. but this side of him is unleashed in a very controlled way, before this u just get the calm control. the calm before the storm.
But,,, his talks with his sister, the fact that he see's people for what they ARE and his memories of manyata reveal alot more about what lies beneath the layers. for example, look at how clearly he understands jai,,, he does not want a person like her as his wife. this much is obvious. which is partly why no matter how junglee manyata appears theres noway hes aboutr to let her disappear into her chawl with akaash. also note that there is genuine respect for the elders, how he is always their to console whether this is komal or dadi saab. also note his dislike of insults or teasing directed at manyata...whether from jai or from brij.
anyway some quick pints before i get to sleep

Yes, UV is a complicated character.

His genuineness is apparent when he interacts with his sister, DS, Komal, and Mantyata. 😊

Right now, he may be concerned with his political agenda but Manyata's presence is slowly changing him! 😍

Like I said, I understand all of that and I am not even saying he is a bad person...but at this present moment in the show, he is selfish to me. Ofcourse he knows how to read people which is a plus point, but I am not even talking about that. I know that he is and can be a great guy...but the thing is that right now, from what I see...he is way too self-centered to care beyond the people in his life...and by that I mean the people he loves. His equation with his sister is beautiful and I have to agree on that. Infact I think these are the some moments which makes me believe that he would be a great guy once the facade of being self-centered is off...once he realizes his responsibilities as a prince and follows his heart (not brain).

What I am basically saying is that by now in the show, some layers should have been off, but they are not. Fine. However, in future I would love to see the process of him self-discovering himself and making us discover him too...rather than just letting go of all his negative points overnight.

With Manayta, not always. I don't think he is in love with her right now and sometimes the caring is just to make her fall in love with him. Although he tends to have soft corner for her, but I think right now his political agenda is overpowering his feelings.

As for Manyata changing him...this is a subjective topic. I don't know what you exactly mean by that but I am assuming that you mean his love for her changes him and not vice versa. And yes, that would be beautiful😳

UV definitely has a soft corner for Manyata. 😊

Yep, I'm eager to see them falling in love and how that changes them.😍

nice post!
Before, i comment, your siggies brought back the golden memories of Remix. Ashi-Yuvi were my favourite :)
OK, coming back to the topic, I think that different people bring out different sides of Uday & i think that is really HUMAN. All of us are very different with different people. Unnati, Manyata, Komal bring out the caring side of Uday. His dad brings out the evil side of him etc.
I do agree it is hard to understand him, BUT if you look just at the core being he is, I believe, he's a nice guy. He may be ambitious, but who isn't? I feel that his feelings are genuine, but they are masked by his desire for the estate, which has been planted in him, by his dad.
well, lets see, how his character develops & yes, i would like to see the process as well :)

I feel UdayVeer is not just a man of many layers, but also a person who has built solid Iron vaults around himself. He is every inch a Prince...Poised, Charming, Selfish, Calculative, Manipulative and Diplomatic... he has made himself into someone who is unreachable...he is someone to be desired, someone to idealize, someone who epitomize power and confidence...yet someone who is so larger then life that its almost impossible to connect with him emotionally.
I LOVE LOVE his evilness, his pragmatic, calculative bitchy self...it is dark and opportunistic. Yet he is so compelling and has so much conviction in himself that a person cant help but root for him. He is someone to be admired...he is smooth, sly, slick and oh so charming...girls would be dropping various articles of their clothing around him...whoever meets him becomes enamored by him...he has everyone eating out of the palm of his hand😆😆😆...whether it be The Rajmata, Coat pe B waley uncle, or Princess J Ghamandini (had to use Moniya's words 😆 they r too awesome to not use)...yet no one knows what actually goes on in his mind.
With Unnati he is very sweet...With his father is very confident yet respectful...but not the real Uday, the human...There are emotions and sweetness exchanged but with careful measurement...as if he is almost afraid to open up his true self to anyone...he is unbeatable. someone who cannot be HURT or Touched no matter what the other person does. He is only Glamour and Charisma and all raw power...no sign of humanity anywhere...for I feel that, to be human is to be imperfect.
The reason why his character is so interesting having me going gaga over him is the sense of mystery that his true self is shrouded in...there are Glimpses of the True Uday present in there somewhere ...only a couple of times...but those small glimpses have left me wanting for more...the scene where he drove around like a maniac after BrijRaj's request for him to Marry J, the conflict and agitation within him while throwing those stones...his conflict over his thirsting ambition to acheive the Throne and harboring an unwanted, unknowing hope of the return of his childhood friend...his stunned disbelief when he sees Manyata's Scar at the night club...his unwarranted hope/fear when he stares and bows to her at the end of their encounter...recently his bruised Ego when HIS Fiance, whos Loyalties should belong to him claims to Love another, Hearing her Profess that Love and most recently his trepiadition at her being lost all over again...this is the real Uday without any masks...he tries soo hard to play it cool, compose himself over and over again...and yet these moments give evidence and hope that there resides a lil centimeter of humanity within the every inch of an Ambitious Prince.
P.S. i know its too long...but i love the anti Heros...he reminds me of the Evil Thakur i was in love with 😃...anyway the scoop for Character Development of almost all the major characters here is what is holding me glued to my Screen😍...i hope the writers take it in a forward direction rather than restricting the characters within a circle...
P.P.S. BTW loved your Thoughts on Uday as well...very well put 😊
