The mics and cameras were being pushed into their faces and they needed a place to hide so much so that they wished the ground would open and it would swallow them. The news was running in a loop since last night and the clips of Maanyata and Aakash eating ice cream at some place in Bandra were playing over and over. Sensational Journalism is OH-SO-COOL, he smirked to himself as he saw the visuals of the news channels on his huge LCD. He sipped his juice , wiped the sweating face and arms with a towel and tossed it aside – speeding up his treadmill as his whole body flexed – half due to the physical torture he gave himself everyday to test his limits and endurance – and half due to his triumphant win over Princess Maanyata. Awww, poor poor royal family. He hated how Dadisa had to face all this shame because of Maanyata's reckless rebellion and his own plan. He didn't care about Brijraj or Aakash . They could go to hell for all he cared. He wasn't even thinking about how Maanyata must have felt due to this disgrace but he only rued that Dadisa became the first target of media. UV's face tightened and he just continue running on the treadmill.
Just then, the door of his room burst open and a fuming tearful Maanyata walked in , clutching a newspaper and her face blotched red due to endless crying and maybe some embarrassment bordering on shame.
Maanyata ( dragging him off the treadmill and throwing the paper in his face )- HOW LOW CAN YOU GO, UDAYVEER! HOW LOW!...( her whole body shaking with anger )…. And don't even deny anything. I will kill you with my own hands!
UV ( muting his TV and putting his hands in the pockets of his trackpants )- My, my, my. I am glad that the staff didn't see you coming, or else they could have used you instead of tomatoes in the hotel's cuisines of the day…. ( laughs and leans over his treadmill , resting his elbow on the display)….and what low, low, low? I am a super low man and still you want to know how much lower can I go? And what were you saying about killing me with your own hands?... ( grins and holds her hands up for her to see )…. You can only cradle mine… oops… our babies with these little fair hands… ( drops them like hot potatoes and darkens)… that is it.
Maanyata ( amidst angry tears )- You did all this to get back at me . Didn't you?
UV ( giving her a tissue box which she throws on the floor )- You girls are so over dramatic, I tell you! Fool a guy , lie to him , challenge him and when he plays his game , burst into tears and start behaving like a babe-in-the-woods…. ( wipes a tear from her cheekbone with his thumb and she pulls back glaring at him)… not fair, Princess. You and your boyfriend were doing some B-Grade film drama in front of me , challenging me that how I shouldn't try to separate both of you and blah , blah , blah…. And now, when I have been such a good boy and told the whole world about your… ( narrows his eyes at her that make her forget to blink her own eyes for a moment)… romantic escapades , so that you both can sing Yash Chopra songs in Swiss Alps LIVE ON TV, you are here to kill me? How ungrateful!
Maanyata wants to slap him and wipe that grin off his face but she couldn't. There was something so powerful about his persona that you either fought with him to avoid looking at him gawky-eyed or else you just burnt under his gaze , all tongue tied. UV had turned her life upside down within one night and here he was grinning at her and watching her world crumble. And she could do nothing.
UV( smiles )- Don't waste your time thinking about what you are going to do with me or how you can hurt me. Think about how you are going to redeem your reputation , your family's reputation and Aakash's reputation….You are a Princess , prove it to the world. If you can fool your family , lie to Dadisa and me, challenge me , disgrace your bloodline by running away to meet your boyfriend… am sure you can save your face here too.
Maanyata ( distressed and crying )- This is not funny at all, UV. You cannot turn my life into a game. Why can't you let me be happy?
UV looks at her and raises and eyebrow , crossing his arms across his chest.
UV – Happy? You want to be happy? ….( rounds her up keeping a hand on her shoulder )… are you kidding ? The whole Rajmahal suffers every day because of you , your blood relatives put up with your immaturity and harshness , you lie and deceive, and you want to be happy? Well, look, I did make you happy. I have revealed you and Aakash to the whole world. No need to run and hide now… ( scans her face and tucks her hair behind her ear letting his hand rest there)… face my challenge , just like I faced yours.
Maanyata ( jerks away his hand)- You cannot play with my life like this! I will go and tell Rajmataji everything!
UV ( smiles and shakes his head )- Maanyata, Maanyata, Maanyata, my love. When will you understand? I invented the game that you are just learning to play…..( slides his arms around her waist delicately)….everytime you solve one puzzle, I will have the next hurdle ready. You didn't think before lying to me, so why should I think at all… ( suddenly tightens his hold and pulls her close)… before hurting you?
Maanyata ( feels something that she thinks she shouldn't )- Leave me!
UV ( forcing her to look into his eyes)- I will but before that register this thing in your cute little brown head……When am loyal to people, I guard them with my life . But when people betray me, I ruin their lives……
Maanyata ( timidly )- Y-You cannot ruin me….
UV ( smirks )- You have no idea what all I can do to you….
