Komal came over to see her daughter. They sat in one of the spare rooms as Manyata's room was being painted to her liking and no one wanted her to get injured again so she was confined to another room in the house until hers was completed.
" Beat tuhme dhyan se kam karna chaiye tha. You should have let someone else take down the curtains. Dekho tumhe kitni gehri chot aayi hai," Komal said worried.
"Ma yeh toh kuch nahin hai. I will be hurt more if I am forced to marry Udayveer. Do I really have to marry him? I am not in love with him," Manyata said.
Komal shook her head. Brijraj had been the domineering one in their relationship. She had learned to adjust with him and he for the most part treated her well. They each had their flaws and over time accepted them. However in the case of their daughter and Udayveer, both were trying to dominate and both were strong personalities, raised in different settings. It would be harder for this younger couple to gain each other's love and affection.
However she knew one thing after all these recent events, Udayveer was the only one who would take care of Manyata. No one else could handle her unique daughter. No one else could hold her hand for the rest of her life.
Manyata would not understand all this now but Komal knew she had to try.
" Beta Udayveer se accha ladka tere liye nahin hoga. It will take time but I am sure he will keep you happy," Komal said gently stroking her head.
"Yeh toh mujhe pata nahin Ma, lekin main Akash se ek aakri barr milna chati hoon," Manyata declared.
Komal looked back at her uncomfortably.
" Beta that will not be a good idea. Your father and Dadisa are already upset about what happened before. Also you must think of Udayveer. He has been waiting for you," her mother said.
Manyata nodded.
"Theek hai. I need to go clean out my things. Ab mujhe aagaye dekna hai," Manyata stated firmly.
She wiped a lone tear from her eye. Komal held her face and kissed her forehead.
"My blessings are always with you. If you need anything, please tell me. I can't bear to see you hurt again," Komal whispered.
Manyata smiled back at her mother. All these years she lived without her and now she realized how much she always need her.
Manyata entered her room. There was a strong scent of paint. She coughed a few times as she gathered the things from the chawl such as the old clothes and mosquito net.
Tears threatened to escape her eyes but she realized she needed to let go of her past. She decided she would sneak out the kitchen door. She would cover herself up. She would get rid of everything and meet Akash one last time if possible. She wanted closure. She knew she had to fight all the way from now to engagement , and then to the alter. She would not make it easy for Udayveer.
She threw the sandals on top of her load. She headed downstairs to the kitchen. Everyone was busy in preparing the dinner, so they did not notice her leave.
She grabbed a taxi a few feet away from the palace.
She looked around the chawl. It was the same as it always was. In the distance she saw Akash get down from his bike. She saw him stop and look at her old apartment. She felt overwhelmed with emotions. All of this seemed like eons ago.
She called out to him. He turned, his eyes widening to see her there.
He quickly led her a vacant alley.
" Akash meri shaadi Udayveer se..," she trailed off.
"Manyata tumhe yahaan nahin aana chaiye tha. The press will come to know and then your family will be upset. I don't want you to get hurt because of me," Akash said.
She nodded.
" Tum bauth acche ho Akash. I have come to say good-bye. I needed closure. I am just going to let go of my past. I can't change what has happened but I want you to know I had some of the best times of my life here in this chawl. I hope you can forget me and move on," she stated.
" I will always remember you as Moniya but I know you are not her. Rajkumariji I think it's best you go now before someone discovers you here," he said firmly.
She sighed.
" Tum theek kehte ho. I am going now Good-bye Akash," she stated before turning away. She dropped her sack in the nearby corner before she walked further away and soon out of his life for good.
Manyata snuck back into her room. She was about to take off the shawl off her shoulders when someone grabbed her and pushed her against the wall. She gasped but she relaxed a bit realizing it was Udayveer and no one else.
"Kahaan gayi thi aap?," he asked.
He was angry.
" If you know then why are you asking?," she stammered.
"Manyata what if the press had spotted you? Tum bilkul pagal ho!," he glowered.
He realized he was holding her tightly and loosened his hold on her arms. He too her injured hand in his and examined the bandage.
He had her sit down and he too out the first aid box.
He began to remove the bandage.
She winced a bit.
"Hum dhyaan se karenge," he assured her.
She nodded with affirmation.
" I went to get closure from my old life. After today I will not go back," she promised.
He blew a bit on her hand. She quivered a bit.
" Aap ko humare saath problem hai, lekin aapni family ko duk dena theek nahin hai rajkumari," he stated firmly as he began to wrap her hand .
Manyata had a light bulb come to her. All she had to do was prove she was the wrong girl for Udayveer but she had to find a way that she wouldn't hurt her family in the process of proving that.
" Jo chaiye karlo princess, tum meri hi patni banogi," he stated with confidence.
She stared daggers at him. He smirked back at her. There would be another battle but they both knew who was likely to win the war.
