Blogs - what are they? why are they?

For someone who just started writing blog posts but still is against the idea of putting up how you spent your entire day etc online I have a question...

Why do people write blogs? And what is the use of them?

What is the importance of blogs? Are they necessary?

Blog which comes from web log is more like a website in which writeups are posted. It generally belongs to an individual.

Blogs can be specific to some topics.. like movies, music, art, photography, religion, science or anything. In that case the blogger must have good idea about the field. Through the post the blogger conveys his idea, knowledge on the field. Blogger may also asks for input.

There are blogs which have post on everything under the sun. Where an individual posts his/her experience, opinion on different day to day activity or may talk about anything that has crossed bloggers mind.

I find blog to be very interesting and enriching. When its about blog on specific topic there you can learn basics of that topic through the posts, you can interact with blogger through comments. And when its about the blogs which deals with any random topic, they give idea about the perceptions and life of blogger. Comments even add to it. There when one shares once experience then one makes it a point that many people learn from that person's experience. And blogger is also benefited he gets other's opinion on his experience, stand, knowledge.

Blog is thus like writing a diary where you can post anything you want to write and here the diary is interactive and gives feedback to the writer.
