Marks measure intellect? No! I beg to differ. Newton was one of the worst students of his school, failing in every subject possible. Einstein was a poor literature student...He failed subjects and had no interest in any subject other than physics, and only the Light chapter in physics.

I believe acedemic achievement is necessary to an extent, but not a "measure". Newton and Einstein were not merely "Intelligent" ..You need to be creative in order to be a genius.

If someone jumps out of the window due to bad marks, then you cannot help but question their intelligence. As horrible as it sounds, Darwin would say the system has its own way of weeding out the weak.

yes and no. for certain fast-track jobs, certain employers would not even bother going to lesser colleges. and if they do, they might take like 1 person out of 100, whereas they might recruit more heavily from the ivies. just need to look at the harvard alum list and the fact that it is the richest endowment by leagues due to those alums to see that point. bigger than most hedge funds in existence. πŸ˜‰now, but only AFTER those candidates have been identified, i suppose the folks who interview best get selected.

to an extent there is a self-fulfilling prophesy with the ivies. they are supposedly the best institutions, and so attract the best students and the best employers. to what extent the students are great ton average to start with and to what extent it's the college that is turning those kids out smarter than where they were starting out is debatable. but it's undeniable i think that those kids generally get a better start, a start that often turns into career-long upward mobility.

and yes, once an employer has culled certain candidates and made them offers, it usually then comes down to on-the-job performance, good networking and other factors. but a lot of folks from lesser colleges dont even manage to get close to those jobs.

There is a limited elite selection of jobs that recruit only from the best. You have to have exceptional intelligence or exceptional hard work to get into it. Usually, the non ivies who get into these jobs are students who have exceptional test scores, extra curricular activities, merit scholarships and other exceptional achievements in their name. Honestly, I do not consider these jobs in the 'average' job market as in my opinion they are 'exceptions'.

The average job market is more vast diverse and each field and company has its own criteria to determine a fit. Some companies look for Education and Grades, others look for experience, others look for personality fits. Provided you have reasonable intelligence and are willing to put in some amount of effort you can always get a good job.

Lets not forget Bush is an Ivy Leaguer.

Since I love movie references

Elle Woods had a perfect GPA of 4.0 for her undergraduate, had leadership experience and graduated from Harvard Law with honors. Would you want her on your firm?

Or Would you reject Elle Woods because of her blonde hair, fashion major and pink scented resume?

For all those students suffering from Rejection
Accepted!

For all those students in fear of scores and exams
The Perfect Score

And if you just woke up one day and decided to go to Law school
Legally Blonde

And if you ever thought the stoner in class was not smart

That is merely a speech of expression. I can see its out-of-date. My apologies.

When we come to think of it, we know that none of us is einstein or newton or anyone like them...hence we don't technically qualify to give advice to people. However if we keep a positive and encouraging attitude and let the next generation develope their minds and creativity, I am extremely hopeful for them to be a genius generation.😊
