Arranged marriage

Is Arranged Marriage ensure happy, productive families?
I born n grow up in America, but i m kind of between 2 cultures.. Indian n American. one of my childhood friend's sister is getting married this May. her mom choose guy for her so its Arranged Marriage so, i just want to know tht ..IS ARRANGED MARRIAGE ENSURE HAPPY, PRODUCTIVE FAMILIES?

Did she get a say in the decision? If not then its a forced marriage, not an arranged marriage.

It doesn't matter if it's an arranged marriage or a love marriage...both individuals still have to work at their relationship together and compromise in some situations. There isn't a guarantee saying that just because you have an arranged marriage, you will be more happy.

Here in the UK, alot of arranged marriages have failed just as many love marriages.

There are no guarentees for anything in life I'm afraid

marriage by itself, whether "arranged" or "love", doesn't ensure anything...leave alone a "happy" and "productive" family. a lot goes into making any kind of marriage successful and raising "happy productive" children😊

My vote too.

The only guarentee is in most arranged marriages is that there is the support of the family if somthing happend after marriage. Other than that there is no difference, we have to adjust, sometimes compromise in in both kind of marriages. As in every relationship, for the success of marriage also love, loyality, adjustment, compromise etc. are necessaary.

I don't agree with you there. I would say that family support is guaranteed because your family cares for you, irrespective of the kind of marriage you had. Even if you have gone against your family and got married, when the need arises your family will stand by you. 😛

@ bold, I can not agree with you. I peresonally know somany cases where parants are not accepting the marriage or the son-in-law even after years, one of them is my elder relative. Even at death bed the father didn't speak to the daughter.

If the girl is married and go to another house, there are some parents who do not care about her, even after arranged marriage. That is one of the reason, that no body to care the girl, for increasing dowery death and suicides.

In both cases the family doesn't care, period. That was my point. You are guaranteed your family's support only when you have a caring family. The kind of marriage you have is a small factor!
