i agree there are some like that, but the vast majority simply do not have any concept of how much to take in and how much to expend.

oddly enough, for a weight-obsessed society such as this, it's also the fattest. all cattle, no hat. 😆

it's like what you'd expect to find over the course of an overseas trip. first stop Paris and you start thinking you're fat. they all seem to have sub-24 waists, whether it's the guys or the gals. next stop London. one look at the cabbie, and you begin to feel trim and fit. still later, by the time you get back to this side of the pond, you just have to see what's around to feel positively slim- officers who look like they could be bursting at the seams and who seem to have lived off those huge southern-sized portions all their lives. can be quite a cultural shock each time even after all those years. 😊

lol. with most things, especially how we view ourselves. but when it comes to beautiful objects and what cuts a sorry or good figure, more of the absolutes apply. it's like this- if u see a beautiful object, u dont not go for it just because there's another one around the corner. i mean u'd go after both.😉another example: sometimes u flunk the entire class even if u're desperately wanting to pass some. and sometimes u graduate them all along to the next class.😉 ab thoda absolute standards bhee toh maintain karna hai, naheen?😉😆

lol. not too quantitative that way. as long as they are firm, supple, slender, pretty. dont want to break their heart and make them feel rejected over a lil bit of variation here and there😉😆

Sleep for 8 hours at night - so say the researchers 😊

Eight-hour sleep key to remain slim
2 Apr 2008, 1238 hrs IST,ANI

WASHINGTON: Sleeping too little, or too much, can lead to weight gain in adults, according to a new study.

Researchers at Laval University in Quebec, Canada, have suggested that the optimal amount of sleep is between seven to eight hours a night.

The study, authored by Jean-Philippe Chaput, focused on 276 adults between 21-64 years of age, whose body composition measurements and self-reported sleep duration were determined.

Changes in fatty indices were compared between short (five to six hours), average (seven to eight hours) and long (nine to 10 hours) duration sleeper groups.

Changes in the amount of their body fat were tracked over six years.

People who were in the short-duration sleep group gained on average 4.4 pounds more. Long-duration sleepers gained 3.5 pounds more than average sleepers.

People in the short-sleeper group were 35 per cent more likely to report a weight gain of 11 pounds over that period than average sleepers, and long sleepers were 25 per cent more likely to do so.

The risk of developing obesity was elevated for short and long duration sleepers as compared with average duration sleepers, with 27 per cent and 21 per cent increases in risk, respectively.

"Our study provides evidence that both short and long sleeping times predict an increased risk of future body weight and fat gain in adults. Furthermore, these results emphasize the need to add sleep duration to the list of environmental factors that are prevalent in our society and that contribute to weight gain and obesity," said Chaput.

"Since preventing obesity is important, a pragmatic approach adding sleep hygiene advice to encouragement towards a healthy diet and physical activity may help manage the obesity epidemic," Chaput added.

The study is published in the April issue of Sleep, the Journal of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
