Brief detail before my POVs

Intervention services for substance abuse, gambling, eating disorders, computer addiction, and other self-destructive behaviors.. Intervention training for mental health professionals.

People sometimes engage in self-destructive behavior, rejecting any assistance others may offer. Intervention, when done correctly, is extremely effective in helping these people accept help.

Long used for substance abuse (alcohol abuse, drug abuse) and addiction (alcoholism, drug addiction), intervention is now also used for compulsive behaviors including gambling, computer addiction, and eating disorders.

The kindest and most loving thing family and friends can do.

Was watching this program on A/E TV called intervention, very effective technique to convince ppl suffering from addictions to get help but surely tough call for both the families and tough on person in need.

Intervention might help in most cases, at least the episode I saw this Sunday, they really did a good job in convincing a person to get help. Orelse addiction is devastating where people don't get convinced easily to even try giving it up.

Is it right for families to put person in a spot without his/her consent? Isn't the risk of becoming hated family for that moment more, just in case intervention doesn't work? Or the program doesn't work and there are relapses? Should everyone be educated upon such services? Can you really call hooked onto (24/7 – 7) internet as an addiction?
  1. Is intervention a good option to attempt helping known person family/friend in addiction?

Yes i think so, if friends and family can see they have some kind of disorder or addiction, they know that it is not good for them and they need help. That person who has the order can not call a decision 4 themselves, to what is right or wrong, as if they knew wht was right/wring they would have tried to do something abt it b4. So yes defo w/o consent.....if they feel this person really does need help. Just say 15 yr old girl becomes annorexic, of cousre she isnt goin to acknowledge fact tht she has a disorer which is out of control, so parents wuld have to get help w/o consent as its obv tht its doin harm to her.😳

Theres a risk with everything action u take in life that it will not work out as u hoped 4. Being hated is one risk u wil have to take, if it works then tht person is on the mend, as will appreciate u 4 it, or relaise after u were trying o help them. just a risk u have to tkem life is full of them, but as of tht fact doesnt mean we dont take a chance. 😳

Can you really call hooked onto (24/7 – 7) internet as an addiction?

Yes is one form of addiction. This is one of them. That ou can not function w/o the computer. Like some ppl r addicted to online betting, this net addiction if on 24/7 is one form of addiction. Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) is one of the new psychopathologies of the internet era😳

Do some people have problems with spending too much time online? Sure they do. Some people also spend too much time reading, watching television, and working, and ignore family, friendships, and social activities. But do we have TV addiction disorder, book addiction, and work addiction being suggested as legitimate mental disorders in the same category as schizophrenia and depression? I think not. It's the tendency of some mental health professionals and researchers to want to label everything they see as potentially harmful with a new diagnostic category. Unfortunately, this causes more harm than it helps people.

What most people online who think they are addicted are probably suffering from is the desire to not want to deal with other problems in their lives.

What some very few people who spend time online without any other problems present may suffer from is compulsive over-use. Compulsive behaviors, however, are already covered by existing diagnostic categories and treatment would be similar. It's not the technology (whether it be the Internet, a book, the telephone, or the television) that is important or addicting -- it's the behavior. And behaviors are easily treatable by traditional cognitive-behavior techniques in psychotherapy.

Is intervention a good option to attempt helping known person family/friend in addiction?

yes can be, if they despo need help then yeah thats only way to hlp them...but con side is tht yeah might lead to further hatred or revellion.
