By No standards is 40 old...

Life begins at forty as they say...

People in their forties today are going back to college, switching careers, starting new businesses, starting families....I think the fourth decade is the prime of life in this age when life expectancy has gone up so much...

And as for aging...its all in the mind...a positive, optimistic fourty something person is much younger than a depressed, pessimist young fellow of 25!

the mindset of our culture is very interesting! by the time you reach your mid to late 30s, you are labelled as old. thats ingrained in their thoughts. where as its the opposite in other culture. however, with time, education, technology, these dyed in the wool thoughts are changing and people are adapting to this new change. therefore, encountering both cultures, i would say above 40 is not old today. by the way age range to define youth has changed. now 30s or 40s something are considered young and i totally agree with what ashu said. i am not sure how is it in india 😕 😕 😕

Actuly Oldage means what??!!! 😳 Old age is when you start slowing down. It can be as early at late 30 or as late as 70s...

I dont know if its old but it might be one or more of diabetes, angina, cholesterol, hyper-tension, spondylosis, spondylitits, lumbago........balding.. and what not😆

There is no way at all that you can define old and young based on age. I totally agree with Dr. Ashu that there are really pessimistic, tired of life 25 year old fellas and then there are even 70 year olds who can give the young guys a run for their money. 😛

If you look at Amitahb Bachchan, that guy probably works than an average 30 year old guy. Chalo, he is a celebrity so it may not be okay to compare him with average citizens. But my grandfather will turn 72 in a couple months. He still works-full time and has no health problems whatsoever. The exact same is with my grandmother who is 68. They both live alone, do their shopping alone and drive around wherever they want to without any tension. People think they are in their early fifties. On his seventieth birthday, he told everyone that he feels that he is yet seventeen 😆 and has a lot to accomplish. You can not call these people old, can you? 😳

Also, we have Dabulls23 amongst us. If she did not tell us that she had a granddaughter, who would have ever guessed that she is a grandmother? A person who is so lively and enthusiastic about life can never be "old" because the number of years is increasing. 😊

And you will find 40 year old depressed guys, who have lost hope from life and want to go into seclusion. So, how is one possibly supposed to define what old is? 😕

In short, when you feel old- you become old.

I agree with you, in India also concepts are changing, even after the age of sixty( my collegues who were retired live a quite active life around us) both ladies and gentlemen lead a more active youthfull life.

0 - 12 years -> Counting numbers on thier fingers looking up in the sky for a while and saying " Yes forty years is old then me"
13 - 20 years -> "Wat??? why do I care? 😛
21 - 30 years -> "Hmmmmmm hmmmmmmmmmm hmmm May be and May be not 😕 , no concerns, right now its time to enjoy chaa din ki chandani" 😉 😆 😆
31 - 40 years -> "Don't you have any good question to ask, sorry but right now am planning my retirement" 😊
41 - 50 years -> "Hell... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
51 - 60 years -> " Well, kiddo 😃 first tell me have you planned you retirement 😉 "
61 - 70 years -> "ummmmm Good question beta ummmmm, if you promise me 2 candy 😳 and 30 minutes 😳 of your time to hear me out then can tell yaa
71 - > years -> Looks at you with big stare, says nothing and talks on different topic. 😃

Even in my thirties itself I feel some times very old.
